My Question or Issue

My liked songs are not syncing to my laptop, nor when I like more songs do they sync to my other devices or the cloud.  When I tried a clean reinstall, all my liked songs are gone, and the interface acts like I have never liked any songs.  How do I get my liked songs back on my laptop?

I originally thought it had to do with my work's proxy, but now I'm seeing this behavior on my personal desktop.

Hi Ver,

There is some server destination I can use to test.  The Spotify client must have an IP or domain name that it connects to.  Please share this with me so I can test the connection myself.  Or, if this information is logged by the Spotify client, please tell me where I can find those logs.

The process of connecting to the servers cannot be purely random, as the liked songs have failed to sync consistently for several months while every other part of the application has consistently worked for that same period.  Were it happening randomly, different parts of the application should sync and break at different times.

Hi @jpyams,

while the connection to the servers isn't random, we still cannot say which IP your app connected to, as we do not know these ourselves. As mentioned, we use a distributed server network by a provider of such services. So the app just connects to a relay server of said network which then forwards the connection to a server that stores actual Spotify service data.

This is us just guessing at this point, but we wouldn't think the destination servers change around very often. So a likely explanation is that when the issue started occurring, the relay switched the destination server for the library sync, for some reason this got blocked on your work machine, and the relay has not changed any routing since then.

Again, the only way to test this out would be from your end, by tracing your network traffic. Still, even if the bottleneck is found, we can't actually switch you to another server as we don't own these.

Hi Kiril,

You still have yet to provide me the domain name that the app uses to contact the server network.  The app uses some identifier to contact the server.  I cannot run a traceroute until you give me that.

I have not asked or expected y'all to do any changes on your end for the last week.  I am asking for nothing more than for whatever identifier (be it domain name, etc.) the Spotify desktop application uses to contact your distributed server network.

Hi @jpyams,

The reason we haven't provided the domain names is that the moderator team doesn't have it.
This is because they continuously keep changing based on the current infrastructure configuration that Spotify is licensing from the provider.
We also don't have any contact details to a team that might have those as it's a very specific request.
This is why we suggested a full network trace, ensuring you limit other network traffic as much as possible, in order to identify the connection in question.

We're sorry we cannot be of further help herе.
