My Question or Issue

I have 512 Liked Songs in my sub account (part of a Family Premium account) copied and re-liked from my partners account which part of the same Family plan. The Liked Songs playlist plays perfectly on my desktop and from my Samsung phone app. However, I installed Spotify app on my Firestick, logged into my account and when I try to play a Liked Song on the Firesticked Spotify app, it does play my Liked Songs, just NOT the one denoted by the thumbnail and song title! Eg: I click on REM’s Everybody Hurts, and it plays XTC’s Only Making Plans For Nigel, one of my other Liked Songs. I’ve not tried all 512 songs but it has done the same thing with the first twenty I tried. I’m scratching my head to a) know why the same account plays perfectly on one or more devices but not another, and most importantly b) how I can fix the glitch on my Firestick based app. I’ve tried uninstalling it and reinstalling, but it reinstalls with exactly the same issue, playing exactly the same wrong song. Can anyone help please?

Hey @Hypersimmo68,

Thanks for posting this thread!

This is an odd behavior worth investigating and let's start with some details and steps:

  • Does this only happen with the Liked Songs playlist in Your Library or with other playlists as well?
  • Does this happen when you control the playback from your mobile device/computer to the Firestick or only when streaming music directly from the Firestick app?
  • If you've not tested already I also recommend logging out and asking a family member to log in to their account.

Lastly if there's no change, it'd be great if you could send us a video so we can take a look at how things look like from your end. You can attach it to your next response via the Insert Video option in the post editor and if the attachment's too big, then you can upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

We'll be on the lookout 🙂

Hi Ivelina,
It only happens on my Firestick app, not on any other device and only when controlled by the Firestick remote. If I play through the Firestick app but controlled from my phone, it works fine.

It is only Liked Songs that doesn’t play; other playlists are fine.

My partner’s account on the Firestick plays fine in all respects.

The error always plays the same wrong song (which is always another Liked Song, not a random song). Basically all the tracks and track file names within the Liked Songs folder have become mixed up amongst themselves.

Thanks for your help.

Hey @Hypersimmo68,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

If the app on your Firestick seems to be working fine with a different account, it's possible that it has some stored cache that might be affecting the proper behavior of the app with your own account. So in this case, we'd recommend logging out from your account and clearing cache + clearing data of the Spotify app on your Firestick. This should sync the info between your account and your device.

If the issue persists, would you mind checking with a different Wi-Fi connection? If you don't have another one available, you can use a mobile data hotspot to test it.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
