Would you mind sharing a screenshot of the playlist as well as the queue when you play this playlist? I think it could be related to smart shuffle. Check your shuffle icon and if there is a sparkle, then smart shuffle is on. It adds recommended music to your queue.

If smart shuffle is not enabled, check if there is a clear queue option present. That would clean up your queue and should remove any items that are not in the playlist.
