New Episodes feed has been removed from My Library

New Episodes feed has been removed from My Library

When I opened the spotify app this morning to download any new episodes from my favourite podcasts in My Library, I found a note where my New Episodes feed would be to say this was now not part of My Library and that I needed to go to Home to find new episodes. So now I have to scroll endlessly through my home page to find the banner new episodes of podcasts, and then I have to open each episode individually to then click again to get to download them. Then when I go back to the homepage it takes me back to the top again and I have to scroll down the page AGAIN to find new episodes and go through the process each time. It was a stupid change and I don't understand why you would make it so much harder for users than previously. How is this beneficial?

Here's what I'm doing.  Perplexity tells me if I cancel my premium subscription, none of my playlists will go away; I'll just have to deal with commercials when listening to music.  Off the top of my head, I probably spend 70% of my listening time on podcasts, where I'm constantly fast-forwarding through in podcast commercials anyhow.  Finding the "What's New" feed is easy.  From any screen, just click your profile in the upper left (for me this is a green circle with a 1 inside) then you are taken to 4 menu options, including your "What's new" feed.   What I don't like is that What's New contains stuff I don't want to see; music recommendations mixed in with all my podcasts, and no way to remove podcast episodes I don't want to listen to or that don't disappear after having been played  Essentially, I feel Spotify made this change to drive more interaction from me with their app.  So I am canceling my premium subscription, downloading my 1st podcast app, Podcast Republic and seeing how things go.  I can always go back to the premium plan if needed...

Also, since I watch a fair amount of "free" YouTube, I'll probably give Youtube music a text run.  Might get better value out of that for the $$..

Solved???  wth!

If this is a final decision, ill start looking for other apps because 'New Episodes' its were i went every morning.

I do not need or want to search for every podcast i follow and see if there's a new episode today.

If this keeps the way that it is now, i will certainly cancel my subscription in the near future.

Hello Everyone.

I think the idea is to use Podcast - Following in the Home menu just to see when new episodes are available.

Then you hit the plus sign (+) to add it to Your Episodes.
Then listen to podcasts from Your Episodes.

Seems to work OK for me, so maybe other people who are missing the New Episodes feature will find that useful too.

Cheers,
Eddie.

Hey this change is TERRIBLE. Bring back a feed of my new podcasts otherwise I'm gonna search for a new provider of listening

Hey Spotify and fellow listeners,

First time poster

The recent update to remove the "New Episode" Tab makes this whole experience HORRIBLE.

While my podcast experienced had taken a hit, you are about to see data on your podcast numbers for all creators (espeically small ones) drop off a cliff because of the needing to check if they posted something new.

I migrated over when Joe moved, got premium to Spotify but this new update has pushed me back to Google Podcasts, Audible

I know your new update made the pod area shine but as someone who ranks in the top 0.02% of podcast listeners your data will show a huge drop off due to this change.

Please restore this so we can listen freely but as of right now, the juggling from the podcats that do daily, bi-weekly to once a week has been very difficult to navigate.

The goos news is that I have been finishing some books on Audible.

With all this said I would recommend others use Audible, Google or Apple. For finace I would short term short spotify because Ive heard complaining from diffrent trades on my job-site and there will be a slowing or dropping sub numbers.

Cheers, fix it before you strach your heads what happened. And whats worse the answer to this will be an automated message claiming a " seemless process" that is not true.

Absolutely agree. thanks for the other recommendations. I am going to spend the weekend setting up another app with my favourite podcasts. I find the attitude really terrible from Spotify about this. There are literally hundreds of comments from people expressing their dislike and no response from Spotify about what they plan to do about it. If you ask in a new post, they just remove it and merge it with my original post from last week, effectively censoring any further dialogue on what the future holds. I expect your post will go the same way, but bravo for trying.

With respect, this was not a welcome change, it's just made it much harder to do what we want to do. Please roll back!

Listen to your users, stop saying it is better when people tell you its not. At least put back the old tab in library. I dont listen to every episode as it comes out, sometimes you want to listen to something different so as to show all episodes, including ones you have listened in between shows you have not is unfathomably moronic. Please listen or a lit of podcast listeners will find an app where the users are heard and the developers can take feedback and do something with it.

It appears people are now looking for alternatives to Spotify.  I know of the Apple Podcasts.  I use that as well but not often.  What are the other alternatives people are switching to?  We should have a list somewhere for other unsatisfied Spotify users to go to.  I do  use the Audiobook feature and, of course, the music.

Why is this marked as solved? There is not solution here just some employee saying we are out of luck and should just move on.

Hi folks,
Thanks for reaching out, I've marked this post as solution so its visible to all who read this thread.
New podcast episodes from shows you follow are now found in the Following feed, located in the Podcasts section on Home.

Just tap Home > Podcasts > Following to see the latest releases. Episodes that you’ve already started are now available at the top of Home when you open the Spotify app.

You can also check the show pages or Your Episodes in Your Library, to find episodes that have been saved or downloaded.

More info here: New Episodes are now in the Following Feed - FAQ

Yeah we know where you moved it to. I don't think you're hearing us when we're saying we're  upset that it was moved and we lost features (like the ability to clear episodes).

What you've presnted is not a solution, if you read the thread we're all quite aware of the decision spotify has made to  change the location.

why did you make it more difficult? There are two steps now instead of one. This is worse. Change it back.

How do we find new releases using android auto. Can't see a list of new podcasts in the car?

Thanks

Is this a permanent change? If so, I won’t be listening to podcasts on Spotify anymore.

This is NOT a solution. If you will simply move completed podcasts out of the "new episodes" feed, I think that will solve about 80% of the issue. Then we can go back to having an "inbox" of new/in process episodes and not have to search through completed ones.

This isn't a solution, it's an inferior experience. Just give us back the New Episodes playlist, if Spotify insist on the Following tab, just give us both methods! Why take away something so many people use and want?

you must realize this isn’t a solution, it’s a workaround that doesn’t achieve the same function. We have to go through extra steps, not be able to mark things played/checked, and are being forced to see unrelated podcasts. It feels like an advertising money grab to those of us who ALREADY PAY FOR YOUR PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION. Please just implement an actual solution by restoring the old function before you lose at least tens of thousands of subscribers and users.
