When I opened the spotify app this morning to download any new episodes from my favourite podcasts in My Library, I found a note where my New Episodes feed would be to say this was now not part of My Library and that I needed to go to Home to find new episodes. So now I have to scroll endlessly through my home page to find the banner new episodes of podcasts, and then I have to open each episode individually to then click again to get to download them. Then when I go back to the homepage it takes me back to the top again and I have to scroll down the page AGAIN to find new episodes and go through the process each time. It was a stupid change and I don't understand why you would make it so much harder for users than previously. How is this beneficial?

This is not a solution. We are not happy about the change. It's simple. @everyone, just switch to another podcast app. @spotify, please mark THIS POST as a solution.
Clearly not a solution. I want a simple list with all my already started episodes.
Good news is that encourage me to try some alternatives and they all seem better, pocket cast or podcast addict seem pretty good options.
Now wondering where to move with the music.
Dear Spotify, dear @ThePodfather and @Dessi,
Thanks for pinning the post and publishing the FAQ, but this still isn’t a solution.
I’ve gone through your FAQ, and while it tries to clarify things, I feel like it misses the mark, especially for long-time podcast listeners who relied heavily on the New Episodes feed.
The FAQ says this change was made "based on feedback", but I’m genuinely curious whose feedback led to this? Judging by this thread and others (now 21 pages (and more to come...) of consistent complaints), it's hard to believe this decision reflects the majority of podcast users. I’d love to see the data or reasoning behind this, because right now, it feels disconnected from the real user experience.
Technically, maybe the data isn't gone, but from a user’s perspective, the feature absolutely has been removed. You now have to go to Home > Podcasts > Following, where:
What used to be one tap away is now hidden behind multiple layers and less focused. It's even harder if you follow a lot of shows, like I do (50+).
The old feed gave me a clean, chronological view of what's new.
Now I have to manually save episodes daily or risk missing them altogether. If I take a break or go on vacation, the “new” experience becomes chaotic.
The new design might look good on paper, but in practice, it slows everything down.
You say you're trying to improve discovery, but not at the cost of usability for people who already know what they want to listen to.
Suggestions are great, but they shouldn’t come at the expense of essential features.
While pinning this thread is appreciated, marking it as “a solution” doesn’t reflect the ongoing frustration.
A better approach might be to acknowledge this as active, unresolved feedback and consider rebuilding a better “New Episodes” experience based on real user behavior, not just internal assumptions.
The old New Episodes feed worked just fine. It could have been improved with options like per-show notifications (maybe it was the case, but I wasn’t aware of).
But sometimes, like a safety seatbelt in a car, simple design is good design. Changing it for the sake of change only hurts the experience.
I’m seriously considering switching to Apple Podcasts: they still offer a reliable new episode view.
Yes, migrating and marking episodes as already played will take time, but at least I’ll get back the clarity and control I used to have with Spotify.
Thanks for reading, I hope this gets escalated internally, and that real user feedback (like this thread) is taken seriously.
But podcasts I have already listened to are also on the following list..... so I need to scroll a lot to find podcast I haven't heard or you force me to listen to them chronologically from the release time. Which is stupid, really.
Hundreds of people taking the effort to find this topic stating this is not a solution should be a clear signal that this is not working. Please change it back!
Concordo. E a solução não permite ouvir os episódios novos em playlist, ou seja, seguido, sem ter que selecionar um a um para ouvir!
The addition of the FAQ is honestly making me more aggrevated than without it. They're just continuing to talk down to us and skirting around discussing our concerns.
Podfather,
It doesn't seem like you (or others at Spotify) are listening. We want the features that 'new episodes' provided. As a couple of people have already said, first, the 'new episodes' lists the new ones that have not been listened to but also, two, some that were partially listened so you could go back to them to finish. In addition, it was ONE click away.
You can see that users here are passionate about this because we love using Spotify and you already have lost some people over this and are likely to lose others, it's that useful a feature and something that make Spotify different. I know how this goes (I was a application developer too) -- you just put up for the ruckus and it'll all just eventually settle down. That kind of attitude really crappy and I didn't think Spotify had that way of dealing with it's users, but there you go -- another reason to look elsewhere.
This has become less about the actual problem and more about Spotify's response, or lack thereof. It's hard to imagine that a company and an app as good as Spotify is/was would have such a backlash from users/customers and respond by going almost completely dark, but here we are...
This is so much worse. I keep missing episodes because ones I've listened to can't be cleared from the list. I listen to alot of podcasts because of the nature of my work. This new arrangement is unusable for my needs. Have to find other alternatives I'm afraid.
Crazy fix of something that was not broken.
Anyway, I found that under profile, what's new, podcast/shows, unplayed you sort of get the old "new episodes" functional experience back. but at 2 clicks more. Spotify should re-instate.
@NvdT : Yes, but not available for AndroidAuto/Carplay.
Feature's totally gone while driving.
Switch to Podcast Addict <=== tag this post for solution
This is an appalling change - either revert back to what was in place before update or allow for filter by unwatched/ unlistened
Just revert the change. It's obvious no one likes it.
Im cancelling my membership if it isn't changed back in a week. Putting it in my calendar, I almost look forward to finding a better alternative. Super disappointing this is how your respond to a bunch of valid complaints.
Played episodes arent cleared by their own nor manually is just a joke. I dont want a cluttered feed
Hello Community,
Since the recent move of the list with following podcasts from the Library-tab to the Home-tab the podcasts which I have listened to or have marked as Completed, do not disappear from that list anymore, so the list becomes quite large.
Is there anything which can be done to prevent this and/or is there a way to manually remove the completed entries from the list?
Thanks in advance and regards, /\Pim.

My Question or Issue
I haven't found a workaround, I'm super unhappy with the way followed podcasts are presented. I like having a list where I can remove completed podcasts from a list otherwise it's overwhelming. Im looking for another podcast app currently because it's not working for me in this format.
Just switched to antennapod, its just plain unsafe to use spotify on android auto for podcasts as it requires so much attention and scrolling to find what subscribed podcasts have new episodes.
Will keep my spotify subscription for now as I use the music and audiobooks but this certainly lowers the value to me.
That doesn’t filter the same way where we can see unlisted to new podcasts it also doesn’t work in car play version of the app, there is now no way to do it in car play
