Next podcast auto played isn't on my downloads?

Next podcast auto played isn't on my downloads?

I have 4 podcasts downloaded. But when one ends, it doesn't go to the next downloaded podcast, it arbitrarily picks a podcast to play from a podcast I do follow, but not one I downloaded. Downloaded obviously means I want to listen to that more than a random one.

What could possibly be the logic for Spotify deciding this? It's exasperating & illogical.

Hey @Lock-n-Load, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

I would recommend a clean reinstall of the app following these steps. This is different from a simple reinstall, and can fix most common issues with the app by refreshing the app with a clean new state. You will not lose any content when performing the reinstall, but you may have to redownload your podcast episodes.

If that doesn’t work, can you let me know if this happens after you play the last downloaded podcast? Typically, after the last podcast is when Spotify will play another episode, but from the same podcast.

Let me know how this goes!

Still happens even today in 2025.

I have 10 episodes downloads of podcasts I follow. A podcast just finished and it picks and auto plays one from a podcast I follow BUT NOT one I have downloaded to listen to.

How is this even logical? What would be the reasoning on picking a podcast I follow but not an episode I downloaded versus a podcast I follow with an episode I did not download???

Hey @Lock-n-Load,

What you've described is very odd indeed. The app shouldn't be able to play anything you haven't downloaded unless your app is online.
Could you let us know from where you're starting your podcast episode and if your app is in offline mode when you're doing so?
A screenshot or a video recording of this behaviour would be helpful with identifying what's going on 🙂

Much appreciated! We'll be on the lookout for your response.
