Have tried to delete on desktop, mobile app and webplayer - this playlist will NOT delete itself permanently. Still showing on the homescreen for both the webplayer and desktop apps. On the desktop app I keep getting a "something went wrong" message. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the app - nothing is working. This playlist has ZERO songs on it so why won't it delete?! Why is there no option to remove it from the homescreen anyway?
Hey there, welcome to the Spotify Community!
This might be related to your listening history. See, if you delete a playlist then it is removed from your library for sure. But the home screen and your recommendations might still show the deleted playlist. This is because Spotify constantly updates your suggestions based on your listening habits.
No need to worry, eventually your personalization will be updated and the deleted playlist will be automatically removed.
I hope that helps, let me know if you need anything else.
I love this service but the fact that Spotify doesn't let you customize your own home screen and the moderators haven't known their product well enough to recommend an actual solution with reasoning drove me nuts...
Here's an actual solution and why I think it works:
- Go to your saved playlists
- Figure out which of your saved playlists have the most number of songs that you've "Liked"
- Play at least between 5-7 full songs in a row without skipping or fast forwarding of each of those playlists (aim for 2 or 3 playlists) with a high number of "Liked" songs
- You'll see the playlists on your homescreen reshuffle and eventually remove the playlist that you no longer want there
It seems that Spotify prioritizes playlists that have a higher number of songs you've "Liked". This worked for me - it should work for you. You're welcome!

My Question or Issue
I've deleted a playlist from my library, it was a mixed one (it wasn't work well, don't ask me why, I think is still in beta), so, that freaking playlist is still appearing on my home app, I've tried to deleted so many times and is still there, can u help me telling me what to do, I deleted the app, clear cache, restart mobile, I've tried everything and nothing works.
I have a playlist in my “Recently Played” section that I can’t delete.
I can rename it
I can delete the songs in it
But even though it’s empty and has no name, I still can’t delete it, and absurdly, it continues to appear in my Recently Played list.
ChatGPT wasn’t able to help me.
Maybe someone here can tell me what the problem is.
Thanks for any answers.
