Playlists switching song versions

My Question or Issue

Hello! I hope this is the right place to post. This has been an ongoing issue for years, but this is the first I’ve posted about it just because it wasn’t really worth the effort. It is a very particular issue. Whenever I add a song from the albums “Age of Winters” or “Gods of the Earth” by the artist The Sword to a playlist, Spotify will randomly replace that song with a live version of the song from the live album “Conquest of Kingdoms”. It does not matter if I am on my computer, or on a mobile device. It also does not matter if the song is downloaded or not. It just replaces the song, like the original was not even there, just the live version. Has anyone had a similar issue?

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be glad to help you enjoy your favourite music properly.

This is quite strange and we've never seen anything quite like this. Recently, there has been a trend of clean versions showing up instead of original ones, but your issue seems to be a bit different. I myself have some songs from those same albums in a few playlists here and there and they appear just fine. 

So that we can look into this, could you please provide us the following:

• Are only songs from these two albums affected? Have any other albums and/or songs exhibited similar behaviour before?
• Does it happen in all of your playlists or only specific ones? What about the Liked Songs?
• When exactly did this start happening? Did it work properly before?
• When exactly does the "switch" happen? Is the live version in the playlist immediately after you add the song or does it change somehow afterwards?
• Please make a video of the behaviour, more specifically showing how you add one version of the song to a playlist (preferably a new one) and how the wrong version appears afterwards. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

This happened to me for the first time ever yesterday, 3/5/25.  I haven't listened to the playlist for a month or so, but when I played it yesterday, several songs were replaced with different versions of the same song.  I've had this playlist for years, unchanged.  Two songs I noticed were Come on Eileen by Dexys Midnight Runners and Feel Like Making Love by Bad Company. This makes me sad because sometimes I spend a long time choosing a particular version.
