Recently Played Artists not updating!

Alright, so there is already a thread about this, but Spotify hasn't addressed it yet, so I figure I'd start a second one.

It's been about 3-4 weeks since my "Recently Played Artists" or my friends "Recently Played Artists" have updated. This is very frustating to me and others I've heard from. I'd like to see my own because there are days where I'll go through 2-3 artists' entire collection of work, then the next day do some other artists, but sometimes I like to look back and see what I had listened to (which would be in Recently Played Artists) without having to add a bunch of songs to my or a playlist. Not that that matters - for the last several weeks whenever I've followed a new playlist, it won't show up on my account page. Luckily it still shows up in the left hand bar, but I use my phone a lot and it's not as easy as it is on the computer. I also like to see what my friends are/have been listening to as well, but since I haven't seen a change in any of theirs for 3-4 weeks, unless I'm on and looking at what they are currently playing, I don't know. This brings up another issue I've been having where sometimes it will say the last person listening to music was, say, 4 hours ago... but if I close Spotify and restart it (which takes 10 seconds), then 4 people are listening to music live and I'll see in my feed that others had been listening in the time between 4 hours. My computer is always connected to wifi, and I had never had this problem before. The amalgamation of these little (but irritating) problems has really defeated the feeling of connectedness I've had since getting Spotify several months ago. Additionally, seeing what you and your friends' Recently Played/Top Played artists is what, to me, makes Spotify more enjoyable than just listening to music in my iTunes library.

Hi - Just an update that I am still having this issue on my computer and my mobile.  It appears to update but then reverts back to the out-dated artists after a few seconds on its own, and also when I change screens.

Hi Michele,

Mine was fixed for a week or two, but as of 5 days ago it hasn't updated. I hate to start up a new thread right away, but it was updating every couple hours when it was "fixed", so in a couple days when it's still acting up, I'll start up a new thread. I'll keep you updated on this thread too!

My experience has been the same as Ed's. It was updating throughout the day for a while, but now it's been "stuck" again for days. Since they seem to be able to get it working again at times, I am hopeful that a permanent solution is on the horizon. Thanks for your updates!

Agreed Rustie, this time I'm not as worried as I was before (after waiting for almost a month and a half) because I've seen that they can fix it once, and I'm certain they'll do it again. Let's just hope they can fix it for good this time 🙂

I have exactly the same problem for about a month. New updates don't solve the issue.

Yeah, I had it fixed for about a week and a half, but now it's back to not updating... I'm optimistic that they found how to fix it one time though, now they just need to find a fix that will last.

I'm having the same issue now.  Niether mine, nor my friends recently played lists are updating.  WTF. I'm starting to feel like Spotify gets less reliable with every update.

Try logging out of every device you are logged into then close the app and sign back in. That worked for me. Long process I know.

You were lucky, I guess! I was reading all the posts and lot of people had the same problem since ages and Spotify never did anything to help them or fix it. And that's kind of sad. 
My recent played artist is not recent at all, on all of my devices, like for a month or so.

I'm having the same problem as well. Probably about 2 weeks since it updated. It has happened to me in the past, but never lasted this long.

I'm having this issue too, and it's been forever since my recently played artists has updated, not only a few weeks but more like 2 months. Feels good to pay 10€/ month for something that isn't working properly..

Unfortunately, Recently Played Artists and the Activity feed seem broken right now to all of us.

Same issues here as well. My recently played artists list hasn't updated since more than 4 weeks. It's kinda so frustrating and would like tob get it fixed ASAP!!
