My Question or Issue

Whenever I start my Liked Songs on shuffle mode then take it off shuffle mode, instead of correctly going to the next song in the sequence it always plays song 151.

 

For example, I have 2000 songs in my Liked Songs and when I hit shuffle it goes to song 590, when I turn off shuffle it should default to the next songs being 591,592,593 etc but instead it just goes to 151,152,153 etc.

 

It also seems to be only happening to songs past 151, so if I hit shuffle and it is a song before 151 it will go into the correct order when I turn off shuffle.

We weren't able to reproduce the issue you're describing on both desktop and mobile - when we disabled Shuffle the old queue was cleared and the new one consisted of the track that's currently played and the songs, which come after it in the playlist itself, as the desired behavior you described. 

 

There might be some damaged cache causing this so we'd recommend starting off with a clean reinstall of the app to make sure it's cleared and that you're on the latest version. Afterwards, you can try logging out and back in a couple of times in a row to make sure everything's synced.

 

We also wanted to check if this only happens on desktop for you or in the mobile app as well, for example? Also, do you have any connected external devices when this is happening, such as speakers, headphones, etc.? It might be worth testing with a different account on the affected device - you can ask a friend or a relative to log in their own account and check if they experience the same thing. This will help us check if it's device- or account-related.

I've tried clearing the cache and it didn't help, tried two clean re-installs and nothing.

No external devices connected and it doesn't happen on my mobile app or when using other playlists only on my Liked Songs.

 

It also seems to be only doing it when I'm cycling through the shuffle -> smart shuffle -> no shuffle with the button at the bottom, if I use Ctrl + S to toggle shuffle mode it works normally.

We've passed this on to our tech teams, so they can have a closer look as well. While we can't give you a specific timeframe, we'll keep you posted in this thread if we have any news to share 🙂

 

In the meantime, we suggest keeping the app up-to-date, as well as using Ctrl + S as a workaround.
