My Question or Issue
Spotify scrolls back to the same spot over and over again. It doesn't save or stay where I've left off, I'm not gone too long for it to justify its reset in position. Tried uninstalling, restarting, logging out. Not a big problem now but it's starting to get annoying when I have to keep scrolling back to find the song I lost because of this. It doesn't even scroll all the way up. Just goes back to this position. Below is an example, the red box shows the song I hover around or area I want to stay in, but when I change display (message someone quickly in messenger lets say) and come back to the app, Spotify goes to this area of the playlist. It consistently goes to this specific area. Any other solutions than the ones I've mentioned?
Hey @Squek,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.
To start investigating this behavior, we understand you’ve already tried some troubleshooting steps including reinstalling, but to be sure that we're on the same page - did you use the steps for a clean reinstall mentioned in this article? If so, and the issue persists, would you mind confirming if it happens with all of your playlists or just a specific one?
Also, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account and the same playlist) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.
Lastly, include in your next response the OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.
We'll be on the lookout for your response.

Unfortunately the clean reinstall did not work. So far it's only been happening with 2 of my playlists (the "liked songs" and my own custom playlist). The problem mainly occurs with my "liked songs" playlist. In my custom playlist, the scroll reset "fixes" itself after a few minutes. I checked on another device and the scroll reset still happened, again, mainly on my liked songs playlist. I've considered that maybe it was the loading that made spotify reset the position, but after waiting 10 minutes and scrolling through liked songs to make sure as much of the songs were loaded, the scroll reset continued.
Hey @Squek,
Apologies for the late response.
We've checked on our end but couldn't reproduce the issue. Can you let us know the model, OS version and Spotify version of the other device you've tested this on? Also, does your other playlist have roughly the same number of tracks saved in it?
We'd recommend going through your phone's settings and making sure that Spotify is set as an exception in any battery- or memory-optimizing services that might be preventing the app from running in the background.
Keep us posted on how it goes!

The scroll reset has ocurred in my friend's phone. Looking through similar cases, it seems that when a playlist hits a certain amount of songs, the scroll reset will happen. My liked playlist, where the problem most often occurs, has 3800+ songs. Whilst my other playlists have around 400 - 600+ songs each. Like I've mentioned, Spotify resets happen on my other playlists but it "fixes" itself after a certain amount of time passes. Unlike my liked playlist, the scroll reset remains. I've also gone through spotify settings and made exceptions for things like battery/memory optimization. Unfortunately, the scroll reset still happens. I guess problems occur once a playlist has passed a certain cap, in my case, 3800+.
Thanks for testing 👍
Have you tried changing the sort order of the playlist to see if that makes a difference? If you're able to consistently reproduce this behavior, a short screen recording which captures it in action would be greatly appreciated - that way, we can get a direct view of what's happening on your end and investigate further.
In case you're unable to attach it here in your reply, you can instead upload it to YouTube as an unlisted video, or to Google Drive - just make sure the file is accessible by anyone with the link.
Cheers!

The same result happens when the list is sorted differently. They all revert to the same spot.
Thanks for the assistance @Squek!
We've forwarded this to our tech folks who'll investigate further. In the meantime, make sure you're always running the latest version of Spotify so you don't miss out on any updates.
Take care 💚
I have the same issue on a OnePlus 12 with latest updates. Keeps reverting to a specific scroll list position when I change view or go into a song then go back to playlist.
Extremely annoying, to the point I'm thinking of switching to YouTube or Apple Music.
Please fix asap!
