Issue:

It seems like the selection overlay or something is broken. For example I've attached a video of selecting a couple songs, attempting to remove them and only one is actually removed.

Same applies when adding songs to a playlist and when using keyboard shortcuts instead of mouse. Issue persists on both MacOS desktop app and browser.

Hey folks,

This should now be fixed for everyone running version 1.2.90 and above! If you don't see a pending update in the app, try performing a clean reinstall however, note that you'll need to re-download any downloaded music and podcasts after reinstalling.

Cheers 🤘

My Question or Issue

This is definitely a new issue, as it was working as intended three days ago, and I noticed it not working yesterday (April 9th, 2026) and it's still not working.

When selecting multiple tracks in an album or playlist, you can right-click and select "Add to playlist" or "Remove from this playlist" as options to do what they say. In the past, it would add/remove all of the tracks you had selected. Now, however, it's only moving the one track you were hovered over when you right-click. If you want to add or remove multiple tracks, you now have to do them one-by-one.

The "More options" three dots near the top will still move the complete album if you do it there, but that's not ideal if you're only wanting to move a few of the tracks from the album.

This is working as expected in the Desktop app. I'm only noticing the behavior in the web app.

Hey, how's it going? Welcome to the Spotify Community.

You can try clearing your browser's cache and cookies to clear recent data; it might work!

Open your browser on your computer and click the three-dot button in the upper right corner of the screen.

Select Clear browsing data.

Keep me updated!

Thanks for your assistance. I cleared the cache and browsing data from Firefox and logged back in. That did not fix the problem.

Thanks for giving the suggested steps a try, @yawetag.

As we could also reproduce this behavior, we've passed the info of the issue on to the relevant team so they can take a further look, but we can't say exactly if or when this will be fixed.

In the meantime, you should be able to select multiple songs and drag and drop them directly into your desired playlist within the Web Player. If it's possible for the time being, you could also temporarily use the Spotify desktop app for a more seamless experience with keyboard shortcuts and multi-select actions.

Should you need help with anything else, we're just a post away. Have a good one!

My Question or Issue

Until recently, in the web player, it was possible to select multiple tracks on a playlist/album/etc., right click, and take actions (add to playlist; remove from current playlist; etc.) on all those tracks. As of a week or so ago, it only takes the action on the track that the cursor is actually over, and ignores all the other selected tracks.

I am having the exact same issue, though in the US. This is quite irritating and time consuming when you have dozens of tracks you want to move at a time. The only workaround I have is for *removing* tracks - just press Del on your keyboard.

I'm having the same issue today, though up to yesterday thinks worked OK for me.

I tried some delete of multiple tracks from a playlist in the desktop app for Windows 11 (as of today the version is 1.2.89.539) and also in the web player in a Chrome browser, and also in a Firefox browser.

The behavior is like it takes only the track where the mouse is when I right-click in order for the menu to appear.

But the same happens if I mark some tracks and press the DEL key - it only deletes one track and the rest remains still marked (highlighted).

The strange part is that I also tried this in the desktop app for Linux (an Opensuse system) and the remove worked OK !

But trrying to remove them in the browser (Chrome) was unsuccesful as well !

I expect things worked in Linux because the desktop app version is a bit older (1.2.84.475) - and the problem will propagate to it as well, when it will be upgraded to at least the current version for Windows ...

So ... why does this happen ????

And also, can't we have a dedicated button for "empty playlist" ?

The devs must have messed up something because ever since the last update right-clicking on selected tracks doesn't open the usual context menu, instead it opens the context menu for a single track (= the track where my cursor is). This makes adding selected tracks to queue via the context menu impossible, but this is my preferred method. I still have the previous version on my laptop, below is a screenshot of the menu that I want to see when I right-click on selected tracks. Can this be fixed, please? Otherwise I will have to re-install the previous version and block updates again, which I don't really want to do.

I am also having this issue, clearing cache doesn't help and I've tried this on the desktop app, chrome, and firefox.

"In the meantime, you should be able to select multiple songs and drag and drop them directly into your desired playlist"

Of course, this is a workaround, and in fact I always drag&drop selected tracks into my queue if I want to insert them at a specific position. But to add selected tracks to the end of the queue, which is what I do most of the time, you need to scroll to the end of the queue if you want to do this per drag&drop, plus the dropping requires a certain degree of precision. And obviously when you listen to music, you're usually at the top of the queue, so adding tracks to the end of the queue via the context menu is the faster and more convenient method.

Ever since the last update, I can no longer select multiple songs at once and remove/add from a playlist. For example, if you want to add 10 songs from an album, instead of selecting them at once and adding to a playlist, you have to add them one by one. Any idea why? or better yet, what can be done so it can go back to how it was?

My Question or Issue

On the desktop and web player, when multiple tracks are selected, the right-click context menu now shows the menu for a single track selection instead of the previous menu for multiple track selections. For example, if I select 10 tracks and click “Add to queue” from the context menu, only the track I right-clicked on gets added instead of all 10 selected tracks.

Windows desktop app suddenly does not work when trying to use Ctrl-Click, Shift-Click, and Ctrl-A to select multiple songs before adding to a playlist.

Was able to do this successfully a couple weeks ago, but today stopped working (others have also had this issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/truespotify/comments/1t8so9n/no_longer_able_to_add_multiple_songs_to_a/).

Steps I took when it was successful: use Ctrl-Click, Shift-Click, or Ctrl-A to select multiple songs, right click, Add to Playlist, select my desired playlist. What appears to happen is that when I right-click, it actually selects the one song I right clicked on, while showing multiple songs are highlighted.

Usually I try to add songs to playlists by searching an artist, and going to the You Liked section to add songs from an artist to a playlist.

My Question or Issue

You used to be able to highlight multiple tracks at once and add them or remove them from a playlist.  This morning when attempting to do this, it will only do one track at a time.  Very annoying.  Please change it back.

Hi Ver,

i tried doing this, but it keeps having to remove them one by one. There is no way to delete them all at the same time.

Just today, shift-clicking the bottom song of an album and then selecting "save to liked songs" does not "like" every selected track on the right-click menu, when it should. How does this company make all this money yet their app has features that worked just fine less than a week ago start exploding. I get that software development isn't exactly clean or easy work, but ho w much spaghetti code could there possibly be in the app where things like this just break on a whim?

My Question or Issue

I can't delete multiple songs from playlist at once anymore. I could yesterday. But now when I select a bunch of songs and either hit delete or right click and remove from playlist. It only removes the first one and leaves the rest highlighted.

Same here in a Windows 10 PC app.  Though in my experience, attempting to remove multiple highlighted songs via right click removes only the song over which right click was initially pressed.  (Judging by the forum's history, this is a recurring issue every few years.)
