Hey @f-45pj_1hj2db,
Thanks for reaching out & sorry to se you've been having difficulties with the Now Playing view 🙂
There's a button you can select at the bottom left corner of your app - it should appear once you hover over the song cover:
The setting you've toggled off enables this button and you can click on it to expand or collapse the Now Playing view at will.
It's easy to miss the toggle if you don't know it's there but I believe it should fix things up for you. Once the panel is closed it should stop appearing!
Let us know if this helps 🙌🏼 We'll be on the lookout.
No, it does not help. I don't want to toggle off the now playing view. If I want the now playing view, I will toggle it on.
After some more testing, I think the problem is that Spotify automatically plays video content. I don't want it to do this by default. If I toggle the now playing view on, then that is fine. But I don't want it to automatically open the now playing view when there if video content.
You said you'll "be on the lookout." Is there an answer to the problem?
Hi @f-45pj_1hj2db,

Let us know so we can take a closer look. If there is indeed something out of the ordinary, we'll be happy to help out.
Keep us posted.
As I mentioned in my second post, it happens with video content in podcasts.
Hey @f-45pj_1hj2db,
Thanks for your reply.
We're currently checking with the relevant team and we'll keep you posted on any updates in this thread.
Cheers,
are you ever going to reply, or will it just be with "we're looking into it"? I have this issue too, this is a widespread annoyance that has been posted about many many many times with zero solution and placating responses from spotify on here. I can 'toggle' the Now Playing view to 'off' as many times as I want; when I click on a new song it pops right back up again. Please do let us know how this very poorly executed feature can be permanently turned off.
It has been two weeks. Is there any update?
Hey there folks,
Thanks for all your replies.
We can confirm this is expected behavior. We really appreciate the time you took to let us know about this, we know you want to make the best out of your listening experience.
We understand where you're coming from. At Spotify, we're always testing new improvements and features to give our users a better experience. Your feedback is very important to us, because it helps us make future decisions.
Hope this clears things up. If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.
To be clear to everyone tuning in. The expected behaviour of toggling "Show the now playing panel on click of play" to OFF is to show the now playing panel on click of play for some content. So, turning it off means turning it off some of the time. But not all the time. With no explanation as to why.
Is Spotify hiring any UX designers?
The fact that you, as a Spotify employee, think this is a satisfactory response to the issue presented is almost insulting. You're saying it's expected behavior that Spotify offer an OFF button for a useless feature to users, that does not actually turn the useless feature off? So the off button is just there for laughs, or..?
And you think this non-response, which took over 20 days to provide, "clears things up"? Great literacy skills we have here.
this problem happens to me as well, FOR YEARS.
honestly, no one wants the "Now Playing" panel and i honestly don't know what the h the product manger in the spotify this this is a good idea to keep pushing to its users.
