I don't know where else to post this, but the new desktop UI is terrible. I'm running version 1.2.7.1277.g2b3ce637 and have tried the methods to revert the UI I've found elsewhere in the community (like changing prefs file, which I had to dig for), but none have worked.
The UI is just the complete opposite of what I'd want on desktop- very noncompact, difficult for no reason, and generally looks to be modeled more for phones than for a desktop.
If anyone knows a way to revert the update, please let me know.

Hey folks,
If you need a familiar experience to help you get started with the new Your Library sidebar, here's how to get it as close as possible to the old sidebar that previously only showed playlists:
Hopefully this info helps!
Check out my help guide for more help:
What the **bleep** did you all do to the desktop app?
1. playlist does not show all of my playlists
2. the interface feels more clunky
3. change this back to the way it was
4. profile picture overly small
I can't handle the latest "Improvement" update to the desktop app. The overlapping elements, endless scrolling... horrible UI/UX. I'm a designer/developer so I know what I'm talking about!
Horrible interface update. Usability is worse. Side scrolling is horrible. Album art hovers and doesn't resize. You guys are lucky for spotify connect and cross platform connectivity, otherwise I'd just go to Apple Music. I have to constantly sort by certain categories. Every time I open the app back up, things reset to default it seems. I'm surprised this even got pushed live.
Can only, this must be the worst update in the last decade. While I don't mind the rounded edges and such, it lost all sense of organization to it.
What we need are better ways to organize and see our various ways of consuming audio, like podcasts, music and audiobooks and this went into the completely wrong direction!
- The tagging style for categories is making it super confusing
- One thing would help is to have a better distinction between my own playlists and spotify/other users playlists
- I mainly listen to podcasts now, let me access my podcast list directly with a button and get the sorting by new episodes sorted out properly.
This UI makes Spotify feel so much smaller than it actually is. Outright hate it, makes me want to stop using it...
The updated design just rolled out to my desktop app as well and it is absolutely atrocious. Not only is it more obnoxious to use but it looks hideous. I am so tired of desktop applications being redesigned to look like mobile phone apps for children. Please revert this change or add some sort of themes option so we can choose our layout.
I wanna see the album covers, with the new UI they are so tiny.
If I could switch to a mobile view where the album cover is paramount I would.
At least allow me to scale album covers to be proportionate with the playlist section (left panel).
Not having any way to look at or organize my library in full screen is ridiculously short sighted on the designers' part. And having to click "Playlists" -> sort into Custom Order and leaving it like that at all times in order to actually see my stuff organized the way I organized it is so clumsy. I don't get why this is forced to be split screen at all times when you are only ever really looking at one of the two halves. I also don't get why "Home" and Search" take up so much screen space. Overall, this UI is so cluttered yet it's designed in such a way that you're only looking at one thing at a time. So why all the clutter? It's even worse when I move it over to my ultrawide. Such a massive waste of screen space in every form factor
I have spotify on my secondary monitor in portrait, so I have the sidebar set to have the smallest width possible without it collapsing into icons only. This results in the navbar overflowing and and having to click on the arrow. I like to switch between playlists and albums, so it takes four clicks to move between playlists and albums ('x', '>', 'Albums', 'select album'). That's one too many clicks. This could be alleviated by letting me remove the stupid podcasts button, but that'll never happen. This update is an abomination.

My Question or Issue
Hello! I have the Spotify app for Windows, however, I have a problem with the appearance. Yesterday, the app had its new look, however today, the app has its old look again, and I don't like it. I looked on my friend's app and it still had the new look on it. Could somebody please let me know how to get it back to its new look? Thanks!
bump- bring back SORT BY CUSTOM- who thought it was a good idea to have 4 pins!? are u serious
Why does Spotify continue to shoot themselves in the foot over time? This program/app was immaculate when it was first released and just gets worse and worse. I feel like it was perfect in 2012.
Honestly, I don't have much of a problem with the new UI update, it just looks half finished on a playlist when its open on Desktop and on the website, I have taken time of my life to update it and make it perhaps better for the modern/simplistic feel your going for, take a look at the image provided : p
p.s. thanks Christian from the support team : )
Does anyone have a clue where followed Podcasts have gone within this new interface? I can't locate them all in one place anymore, very frustrating. The new Search is useless as it just lists random podcasts under different categories.
Not tried this yet but seen that some people have had luck with this method.

Have you stumbled across the new location for followed Podcasts yet, I can't find it?

My Question or Issue
There was an update like 2 weeks ago that added a new panel on the right which popped up when you started a podcast or a song, so podcasts were no longer displayed in a flowing window which I really liked. But yesterday I clicked on an icon at the top (I think the icon had 3 little silhouettes), and the panel disappeared. I tried reinstalling, but it didn't help. The icon which I clicked on also disappeared. How do I reopen the panel?
Thanks in advance.
Custom order has been removed. There's only Recents, Recently Added, Alphabetical or Creator.
I can no longer drag my playlists into an order I need them in.
This is the latest version of SPotify too, all up to date
Hey @cookster61,
You need to set the filter to Playlists first. Once you do that the Custom order sort option should show up.
Cheers!
There should be a setting in which you can opt in or out of these random tests!
I don't want a new UI, and this one is terrible. It's a downgrade if anything, I quite literally can't even go on the desktop app anymore because the new interface is so cluttered and quite frankly just looks wrong.
Give people the choice of whether or not they want to be used as test subjects for possible changes!!! I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who would love that, and all it really takes is one extra slider in the settings bar. However, I am not one of those people and honestly, until you change it back or actually come up with a decent UI, I'm gonna have to stick to YouTube.
