My Question or Issue
Smart shuffle is not turned on, the controls are showing the regular shuffle icon. But smart recommendations are still being added to the queue and interrupting my playlist. I have tried restarting the browser, restarting the computer, clearing cookies, and clearing the queue.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.
That's an odd behavior since Smart Shuffle should only add tracks to your queue when it's active. So first, we'd recommend checking on an incognito/private window or a different browser to see if it makes any difference.
Also, since you've already cleared cache, we'd recommend clearing any entries which contain Spotify from the host files on your computer as well. To do so, you can follow the instructions mentioned in this post.
Lastly, would you mind checking on the desktop app instead of the Web Player to see if it shows the same behavior?

I am having the exact same issue but I'm using the iPhone app. I have force closed the app countless times and it still happens when I open it back up. Do I need to delete and redownload? Or do you have any other suggestions?
I too have this issue on my android. I only use the free app. Id like ad free but I don't want to pay for podcasts stuff. Ill check my cache but I'm confused as to why this just started happening 2 days ago

Thanks for posting on the Community! As we just came across this thread again, we want to add a few more details.
If you're using the free service and you're listening on the mobile app, it's expected that suggested tracks will be added to playlists and albums during your listening session. These tracks are only temporarily added and are not saved in your playlists. Feel free to have a look at this FAQ for more info.
In case you're on Premium, and you've ensured Smart Shuffle is switched off, it's possible that some tracks have been queued or that Autoplay is on. When an album, playlist or podcast finishes playing, Autoplay generates a new play queue with similar content.

This wasn't always a thing, why is it now all of a sudden? Especially when us free users only have a limited amount of skips, it doesn't seem right to add random stuff we don't want to listen to. If I want to discover new music, I go to new playlists, not the ones with songs I hand selected to listen to. Spotify needs to fix ASAP.
