Hey folks!
Some of you have reported that only a specific bracket of your playlists is being repeated.
While the expected behaviour here is that Shuffle is completely random and shouldn't prioritize any songs, we've noticed your feedback and we're eager to look into this for you, so we'd like to ask you for the following details:
Tip: Note that clearing your cached data has been reported to reset this behavior.
Cheers! We'll be on the lookout for new replies here 🙂
"We can confirm that the shuffle option prioritizes the songs that Spotify perceives you listen to most, that's why some songs can come up repeatedly."
The heck are you taking ? Do you understand how that creates an effed feedback loop ?
"We think you listen to these song a lot so we will play them more".
A week later "Since you listen to these songs so much, we'll put them in the rotation even more"
Another month later "Wow you really listened to those songs a lot, better keep spamming you with them"
Do you even begin to understand how dumb that sound ?
@spotify people:
The reason I have a playlist is to listen to a variety of songs I put on the playlist. I don't need you to prioritize that for me, I already prioritized things into a playlist. That's a really terrible feature if you think about it.
Right? It's such a ridiculous assumption. I literally want to listen to my playlist randomly when I hit random. Otherwise I wouldn't hit random. What are these people thinking?

My Question or Issue
I find my playlist, while on shuffle, playing the same 100 songs while I have thousands of songs. Somehow, randomizing my songs dosen't randomize them.
The same order of music playing correctly, I have already uninstalled and installed it again and the problem still persists. It's annoying to listen to music like this, please solve the problem because I only listen to this playlist because it has what I like
The fact that this issue still persists in 2025 is mind-boggling;
Same problem for me, 1000's of songs in the playlist and it plays the same 50-100 songs every damn time, to a point where take these songs out of my playlist because i can't hear them anymore without it being grating to my ears and brain.
Spotify please remove this STUPID algorithm, it's not working. just go back to ye olde MP3 player random days where the random function ACTUALLY RANDOMIZED THE ORDER OF THE SONGS, it's not that complicated.
How on earth is a true random shuffle a novel concept for an 8000-person company? Why on earth do you think your users want to listen to the exact same order of songs? How are you actually helping them discover new music?
This is a sham, and this problem is not "solved" as the moderator has proclaimed.
This is far from being "solved"
I got so tired of listening to the same songs over and over again, I moved to another provider.
Spotify, ironically for a music streaming service, made start to hate certain songs used love as they were repeated so much.
It's 2025 and I'm having the same issue. Same with low volume in Spotify App on a new computer.
This is some BS. For what we pay monthly. If Spotify starts making us listen to ads in paid subs, I'm just quitting all together and sticking with Youtube Music.
@Eni I know you are only doing your job, this is not a solution, it's a description of why this happens, but doesn't fix anything. This issue has made me leave Spotify (aka Greedfy).
At least call it something else rather than shuffle, whatever Spotify does is not shuffle.
Indeed, I really don't understand why there isn't an option for random order. Sure, let it be default to have smart shuffle for 99% of users. But for the 1% of us who truly like to embrace the chaos, at least give us that choice
Still requesting true random shuffle as of 4/24/25. I want to listen to all of the songs in my playlists and not have them repeat.
THANK YOU! Its so FRUSTRATING! I pay for premium and I'm hearing the same fricking songs over and over again!!!
I don't know how to explain this very well but my shuffle is stuck. If I select a song from my playlist it queues up the same set of songs. I could randomly click on different songs and instead of making a new queue it the same set of songs every time. I can reset the shuffle by going the through all of it's options/settings but it's annoying and still plays some of the same songs from the previous queue. What can I do to fix this?
I hate to leave a reply that is so old but as a premium user I'm having the same problem and I think it's ridiculous for the money you pay that this still happens!! It's really not that hard to fix they're just lazy and unacceptable imo.
If I wanted to hear the same songs over and over I'd make a separate Playlist. Incredibly stupid for shuffle to prioritize songs, that defeats the purpose of shuffle and I end up listening to the same songs anyway because nothing else comes up.

My Question or Issue
No matter if it is from my phone or computer, when I put my liked songs on shuffle it will play the same songs twice before playing other songs. Then the next day it plays the same songs as yesterday. How do I get it to shuffle through ALL of my songs. On other playlists it does not do this. It is not on smart shuffle.
I only listen to the same songs because Spotify decides it for me
Recently my Spotify playlist has only been playing the same couple hundred songs on loop. I have 1300+ songs on my playlist so this is really frustrating. I have shuffle on and I don’t reset the playlist shuffle but after around 100-200~ songs the playlist just loops itself instead of playing the 1000+ songs in the playlist.
