15 second rewind changes episode

15 second rewind changes episode

Lately when I hit the 15 second rewind (or fwd) button when listening to a podcast it will take me forward an episode instead! If I hit it more than once, it will surf through that number of episodes. That’s while it’s playing. When it’s paused, the timestamp changes as it should but as soon as I hit play again it just restarts like I never rewound in the first place!

My Question or Issue
I don't think this is a deep technical issue. I just think that the "next/previous song" input from headsets & speakers is registered by spotify as usual, but for podcasts it's bound to the same action as for songs - skipping whatever is being played, and go to next episode - instead of just 15 seconds. This is behaviour is expected and intended for songs, but should be different for podcasts. The the Skip/Back 15 seconds button does not exists when listening to songs.
If I use the Spotify UI buttons it works fine, but my headset controls (Swipe forward/back) should be rebound for podcasts.

TL:DR; For podcasts, when spotify receives the "skip to next / go back" signal from external headset&speaker buttons, it should be tied to the correct action (forward/back 15 seconds) instead of acting like it does for songs.

This issue does not occur with Bluetooth, but with the WiFi Sonos connection specifically.

Spotify version: 8.8.96.395

In the video, all I am doing is tapping the fast forward 15 seconds button. You'll see that the podcast skips to the next one completely. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Zl-5hwbsNCVNABcK8xOmcVJEcFOu59L_/view?usp=drive_link

Whenever I listen to a podcast from PC or Android and have it play on my Sonos Beam, the 15s forward or back buttons on podcasts instead skip to entirely different episodes.

Same issue. Spotify app on Pixel 7 phone. Playing podcast over Sonos. If I use skip 15 seconds or manually scrub playback location on the play progress bar, the second time I do it I changes to another episode, though the episode name itself still shows the old episode. 100 percent repro. Only for podcasts. ( I listen to Everything Everywhere Daily podcast, in case it helps)

Spotify app: 8.9.8.545

Sonos S2 OS version 15.11

Hey folks,

Thank you for your patience.

We can confirm that the right folks are aware of the situation and are currently working on a solution for this issue. We don't have a specific date for this to be resolved, but we hope it will be as soon as possible.

We'd also recommend having your Spotify app updated, so you don't miss any improvements coming your way.

If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to ask.

The "skip track" button during podcasts will move 15 seconds forward or backward if I'm using Bluetooth headphones.. but when I'm connected to android auto in my truck, the skip buttons skip the entire podcast (skip forward) or restarts it from the beginning (skip backward). It didn't do this before. Some update y'all rolled out eliminated the 15-second skip as the default button function, with no way to re-assign it. If I click the 3 dots on my android auto screen, the 15-second skip buttons appear for me to click, but that takes my eyes off the road. Why not give us the option to assign the function of our skip button for podcasts? (either skip full track, or skip 15 seconds)

Hi it’s been more than a year and I got here searching for the solution…they are still working on that solution?
