Annoying sound effects when controlling Spotify mobile using ipod controls

Using Spotify Mobile Version 0.4.23 on iPhone 4 ios 5.0

Can anyone please confirm this when using the ipod multitasking controls (double clicking the home button twice). The controls cause annoying sound effects (beeping noises when playing/pausing/next/previous). I have tried this on other apps with no issues. This ONLY happens when the ipod controls are used in Spotify.

Just get Tunigo and your problem is solved. Spotify bought this company, and near as I can tell - it's a complete replacement for the Spotify app. Much, much improved experience... All your playlists, everything. So much nicer.

Just did a search for that in the AppStore - seems Spotify have done a Borg on it - the app is no more. Pity. Anyone know of another app that plays Spotify tunes but without the negative features?

Hi

Any luck on this?

The spotify track changing sound effect from lock screen is louder than the music in some cases and that tone just hits your inner ear drum and its so annoying.

It seems like half the options are missing in the IOS version vs Android. Im sure i dont remember this annoying tone on my last phone.

Hi Nevyn,

Please address the sound effects issue!

I understand the cluttered interface concern but, maybe you could add a "Advanced Settings" radio button at the bottom, similar to the Chrome settings page?

Please add a toggle for the SFX or remove them entirely.

I'm also a new Spotify user who finds those sounds extremely annoying. I really can't unterstand their purpose, but if you really want to have them, then at least include an option to turn them off. If they are so useful and great why can't I name one more player that has them? What I also find very annoying is this arrogant attitude about this issue. There's been more than a year and they didn't correct this or at least tell us when they plan to correct it.

I think we should use the contact form and give feedback that way. Here's the link: https://www.spotify.com/ie/about-us/contact/

Why are they not listening on this? There is no sensible reason whatsoever for subjecting users to these stupid sounds, they should at the very least make them optional (and I doubt anyone would ever activate them if they were)

Totally agree. Probably best would be if everyone of us contacted Spotify directly through their contact form. This is the reply I got to my message:

"Hello there and a warm welcome,

Thank you so much for taking the time to get in touch.

Here at Spotify we are constantly evolving and bringing in new and exciting features.

We greatly appreciate both positive and negative feedback from our customers, so that we can focus our efforts to deliver the best experience for everyone.

I have passed your comments on to the development team. They have said to say thank you too and wanted me to reassure you that they have taken note of your points with the aim of helping bring a better Spotify experience to you in the near future.

All feedback has to be prioritised and this means that they can’t give a specific time frame for the changes to take place. Having said that the speed at which improvements are implemented is very quick.

I hope you are able to continue to enjoy your Spotify experience and the journey that you are on with us.

Thank you for your support and understanding. It is greatly appreciated!

I agree that they might respond better through alternate avenues, but seeing a response like that really shouldn't be encouraging. You could probably give them the most useless feedback ever and they'd still reply with that exact same thing. One thing I've learned since posting in these forums is that Spotify's policy is to force cheeriness down user's throats in an attempt to win their affection. I appreciate frankness, not empty pandering.

In case anyone here hasn't done so, I encourage EVERYONE on this form to contact Spotify directly. Below is the url to contact them, and maybe its just because I work for Disney, but I encourage those who do to be polite and factual at the very least. When I contacted them I even gave them the link to this forum just in case they haden't seen it.

It's been two years since I said I'd fix it. I can't express my shame. I've just finished writing the code to add a setting for disabling feedback sounds from the Playback settings (as review #103260), but I don't work in that team anymore so I can't make any promises as to if or when the code will be merged and released.

Go Nevyn!

Maybe you should break into the office of that team, and then change their computer sound profiles so that they will make that sound effect for every event in their OS.  You know, as an empathy-building exercise.

Well, I still have an access card there, and I was the one who wrote the code and made the sounds and decided to have the sounds in there to start with, so I don't think that'd be very productive 😕

Please, please, please make these awful bleeps optional. Please.

739 days since this problem was pointed out.

Still no response.

Spotify, here are your options:

  • Remove the sound effect
  • Provide an option to mute the sound effect in the main menu
  • Provide an "advanced mode" that users can engage to adjust more aspects of the program.
  • Keep the sound effect and make it unannoying

Actually I like the sound effect. It helps when switching tracks while I'm driving.

Well but an optional toggle would be good too.

You wrote the code? And you pushed it to the repo? What in the world is the git guy working on! Hahaha.

Submit a pull request to the team and provide a link to this forum as part of the pull request so they have the context. It just needs a settings option to turn it on or off so people have choice. Without it we feel powerless which is never a good position to leave your paying subscribing customers in. Submit that PR!
