My Question or Issue:
The app stops running in the background. I've tried reinstall, logging out, closing the app, everything and it still doesn't work.
All this started to happen when I updated to the latest version 8.6.80.1180.

Same issue here but started before the update. The following steps are the ones I’ve done.
Clearing the app
Loging in and out
Updating the app
Reinstalling app
Soft reboot of IPhone X
Network Reset
App keeps crashing while in background but works perfectly while on front.
Latest iPadOS. Latest Spotify App. Crashes seconds after running in background.
Ran through the same steps as cflorez295 above - no change in behavior - crashes immediately

In case you're using any battery optimization or power saving apps, you can deactivate them for Spotify. It's also important to make sure that there are no other apps running in the background.
Also, can you confirm that you followed the steps that's provided in this article? There's some more steps to help thoroughly uninstall the app from your phone so if you haven't, we'd highly suggest it since the steps will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.
