My Question or Issue
On my apple watch series 3, the spotify app does not display correctly. The problem started a week or two ago. The app displays zoomed in as if it were to fit a larger watch face. The buttons all work so I can still pause, like songs, etc but I cannot read the name of the song that is playing.
Hey @maggiebeckmann,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community about this.
Just to make sure we've covered all the basics, would you mind confirming if you've already reinstalled the app on your Apple Watch? If not, we'd recommend following these steps.
First, you'll need to remove the app from your Watch by opening the Apple Watch app, scrolling down to the "Installed on Apple Watch" section > Spotify > Turn off "Show App on Apple Watch". We'd also recommend uninstalling the app from your watch's app grid by long-pressing the app icon and selecting "Delete". After that, you can install the app again by following any of the processes mentioned in this article.
If the issue persists, could you check if this happens with other apps as well or if it's just with the Spotify app?
We'll be waiting for your response.
Hi Oscar,
I deleted it and reinstalled the app and it was correctly displaying the first time I opened the app on my watch. I went through the app screen to open spotify when it looked normal. Out of habit, I clicked the shortcut icon on the watch face and it glitched and started displaying zoomed in again. Now no matter whether I go through the app screen or the shortcut it displays too large.
I don’t have many non apple apps on my watch but they seem to be displaying normal.
Hey there @maggiebeckmann,
Thanks for following up with more details!
Could you double-check if there's an update available for the Watch OS? You should be able to see this in the Watch app on your phone. It's also worth having a look at the current zoom settings in the Watch app (if you haven't already). If it's currently on, try switching it off or decrease the zoom slightly.
Should the issue continue, could you let us know if you by any chance noticed that it was around the same time as an update to the app or the OS, when this started a few weeks ago? It would also be great to know your current OS version.
Keep us posted 🙂
Hi Maria,
My OS are 18.2.1 on my phone and 8.8.1 on my watch.
Zoom was turned off in my settings but i turned in on and off just to be sure. There was no available update to either the phone or watch app.
I couldn’t really tell you when this started happening… my guess is maybe like 2-3 weeks ago? I have automatic updates on so I wouldn’t have noticed the app updating. Usually these things get fixed on their own but I finally got annoyed enough to submit a comment haha. I feel like I might be one of the last people out there wearing a series 3!
I played around in the app a little just to see what happens. After opening and closing the playlist/queue option, the display would appear normal. But after letting the watch go to sleep and wake up again it would be zoomed in again.
Hey there,
Thanks for all the extra details @maggiebeckmann, we appreciate it!
We had a look into this, and as a heads-up, it seems like it might be related to the current setup. I tried to replicate the behavior you're describing from my end as well, but I was unable to (it's possible that it's related to my watch being a different model and iOS version).
In this case, we'd recommend reaching out to Apple, so they can also have a closer look at the device settings. You can find their details via this page.
We're just a post away if anything else pops up 💚
