Battery drain, overheating and lagging when using Spotify

My Question or Issue

For about three or four days now, the app starts to lag pretty badly after just a few minutes of clicking through artists libraries and streaming different songs. The battery of my iPhone also starts to heat up very quickly because of this. Spotify becomes pretty much unusable because of the lag. It does NOT crash the app though. So the music will keep playing in the background, and if I leave the phone as is, the battery also cools down soon after. Performance issues will remain however until I force close the app.

Same here! Songs keep buffering or won’t play at all—it’s super frustrating. Hope Spotify sorts this out soon.....

Glad I’m not the only one with this issue. Tried reinstalling, but no luck. Hoping for a fix ASAP.....

I've been experiencing similar issues lately—especially the overheating and rapid battery drain on my iPhone. Hopefully, Spotify can address this soon with an update. Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences—it helps to know it's not just me......

I am experiencing the following issues with the Spotify app on iPhone 16 Pro: app lagging, battery drain and overheating of phone, delayed responses after input, app freezes completely and has to be exited (even with downloaded music). I’ve reset my phone, changed to low power mode, cleared cache, etc and NO CHANGE.

I will not uninstall & reinstall because I am not losing all of my downloaded music (Spotify has had ample time to come up with a solution so users don’t lose music if forced to uninstall). The past few updates have bricked Spotify for me and I won’t continue to pay premium for an app that I literally cannot use!!!

I have the same problem with my iPhone 16. Only when using Spotify (scrolling the library, etc.) the battery becomes very hot, the app stutters and this gets worse. Tried all solutions, but still the same problem. Glad I'm not the only one either. But I hope, like the rest, that Spotify will come up with a solution soon.

I am on iPhone 13 pro ios 18.5 (the latest). Having exact same problems and it’s been doing it for months. I am giving them until September then I am finally switching. Stop adding all these unnecessary features (especially laggy ai) if we can’t even PLAY MUSIC. The performance of this app drops by the month!

Yup. I just switched from Spotify to Tidal using Soundiiz because of it. If you end up doing it and want something very similar, I suggest YouTube Music or Apple as the search is better on there. But I did Tidal because of the sound quality, artist pay, and the UI looks better than before 🙂

My Question or Issue

Since two days ago, when I connect my iPhone to my AUX cable in my car and turn on Spotify, it will play me a song for 30 seconds, then crash my app and overheat my phone. This happens only when I connect my iPhone to my USB-C to Jack adaptor which is connected to my Jack AUX cable. I would appreciate it if you could solve this problem as it ruins my experience with the app and ruins my phone battery.

This is effecting my wife’s iPad. iPad hot, battery depleted 30% in 10 minutes and songs, even when downloaded, will stop after a few seconds go silent and then skip back and start playing again. Things a fresh install too! Basically, Spotify is rendered completely useless.

My Question or Issue

Been having an issue for 3 weeks now, thought it was because I was on iOS 18 but after an update the issue remained. The phone get really hot and drains battery way faster than before anytime I´m using the app this can be either just listening to music or scrolling for new music and making playlists, I've already deleted and installed the app 3 times and did nothing, updated on the store and nothing and even turned off background refreshing apps, still nothing. Really hope this gets fixed with an update since this is a new issue and the phone is not even a year old at this point.

My Question or Issue

I started noticing my battery too low before the end of my work day. After my research, I found out that Spotify usage is around 61% per day (7 hours). Last hour it took more than 40% of the charge and my phone was really overheated. iPhone says that Spotify activity on screen is 13 minutes and background - 2 hours and 39 minutes. I'm curios - does Spotify take so much charge per hour or it's a problem?

Yeah i noticed that too, maybe not as excessive but it uses around 10% more on ios 26.2 than on 18.7.1
