Hi there @kennedybell,
Thanks for reaching out.
Unfortunately, that iPad can no longer support the Spotify app. Currently, iOS 14 or higher is required for it to work properly. You can always check the up-to-date minimum requirements for all platforms here.
Hope this clears things up.
Hi @kennedybell,
Thanks for the reply.
We understand the sentiment and we thank you for the feedback. Usually when a device no longer covers the minimum requirements, the app can still keep working for some time and it can vary how long this is. Usually though, at some point the login and communication with the service will stop working as expected. Eventually logging in won't be possible anymore as the app won't be able to properly authenticate with the servers, even with correct credentials. In other words, your account shouldn't be locked, as it was simply the app that was unable to authenticate.
Nevertheless, if you have issues with your account, let us know, we'd be happy to help out.
Hope this clears things up.
Dear Joan,
I have exactly the same problem. It is very disappointing that Spotify does not longer support devices that are working perfectly fine. I am not expecting any new software or features, but simply to keep things going as the are. Is there any way I can run Spotify with iOS 9.3.6? We live in a world where too much waste is generated every day. It is not sustainable. Why should I throw away a technical device that still works? Please help and support this topic. Spotify has committed to reach zero green house gas emissions by 2030. At the same time it is contributing to create technical waste. That is not consistent.
Thanks and best regards
Florian
Yes! Totally agree, can big tech companies just try a little more to solve this problem and achieve some environmental friendly value instead of stock value for once? Be better please, understand that hardware should not need to be replaced after a few years to keep applications run on them..
Me and the future thank you for this.
