Since yesterday, the "continue playing" button does not work on the google maps on ios. Google maps is an approved app on the spotify app and spotify is set as the music player on google maps. I have an iphone 16 using the latest version of ios. In trying to fix this problem I have: updated both apps to the most recent version, logged out and logged back in on both apps, deleted and reinstalled both apps, and restarted my phone.
I've uploaded a screen recording -- you can see the "continue playing" button flash grey as I press it several times with no response. Thanks for any help

Hey folks,
Thanks for all the info you sent so far.
Since it looks like the issue started happening after a Google Maps update, we'd recommend reaching out directly to Google so they can take a closer look at what might be happening.
Let us know how it goes.

Experiencing the same behavior of "Continue Playing" button flashing on press but otherwise doing nothing. This was a recent change.

Started suspeting that last night after seeing I share a Google Maps version but nothing else with someone experiencing the problem. Already reached out to provide Google Maps feedback from within their app, while including this thread for reference. That said more reports might help the issue get addressed quicker, so I suggest others provide their own feedback to Google Maps.
Thanks for helping us track down the root issue, Spotify team!
Same problem.
Can't use it with Google map, can't disconnect googlemap from spotify.
Phone: iphone 15 pro
IOS: 18.1.1
Googlemap: 24.50.0.7044278910
Spotify: 9.0.2.419
Im having this same issue also! So annoying. I’ve deleted and re downloaded both apps and connected and disconnected them numerous times!

iPhone 12 Pro Max ios 18.2
Spotify 9.0.2.419
Google maps 24.50.0.7044278910
I am having the same issue and it started happening about a month ago. I am using:
Spotify version 9.0.2.419
Google Maps version 24.50.0.7044278910
iOS version 18.1.1
I have tried restarting my phone, deleting both apps and reinstalling them. That did not work. And then I tried signing out of Spotify through the web browser on all devices, signing out of Google maps, deleting both apps, turning my iPhone off and then back on, reinstalling both apps, re-signing into both, reconnecting Google maps to Spotify, and still the problem persists.
Spotify works when connected to the app Waze. Google Maps connects to Apple Music with no problem.
Same issue here.
iphone 14 Pro
Spotify: 9.0.2.419
gmaps: 24.50.0.7044278910
one thing to add. After reinstalling gmaps it works for one time.
After restarting the app it stops working as seen in OPs Video.
Same issue here. Experiencing for an month now.
All apps are up to date and I’ve tried every possible solution, as mentioned above.
After deleting the apps and removing the connection from spotify, it works only once.
iOS 18.2.1
google maps 25.0.2.0
Spotify 9.0.2
Hope this’ll be fixed soon, as I use the feature all the time when in the car.
Same issue, did all the steps mentioned above but the problem still persists. This is very disturbing.
Spotify version: 9.0.10.409
IOS: 18.2.2
Same problem here despite several reinstallations of both google maps and Spotify.
Spotify version 9.0.2.419
google maps version 24.50.0.7044278910
iOS on iPhone 14: version iOS 18.2.1 (22C161)

Hey folks,
Thanks for the shared details!
While we're looking into this, make sure your Spotify & Google Maps apps are up to date and let us know if there's any change on your ends in case there's been an update available. For anyone who still hasn't done so - we'd like to ask you to share your Google Maps app version as well the same way @jmwww has done.
Many thanks! We'll keep you posted and we'll be on the lookout for your replies 🙂
Both apps are updated to the newest version again and I have tried reconnecting them both and still not working
Hey again folks,
This will be fixed in the next version of Google Maps, version 25.03.x, which should be released sometime next week.
Be on the lookout and let us know how things look like once you get the update.
Much appreciated!
Google Maps had an update today and Spotify now connects! Woot!
I manually updated Google Maps in the Apple appstore and can also confirm it's been fixed. Thank you all!
Works for me as well now!
That update fixed it for me too! Thanks!
