Cannot find songs dragged onto desktop and now playlist is empty!

I was trying to drag the names of the songs in my playlist onto my Mac desktop.  Now they are not on the desktop, and the playlist is empty!  Is there anyway to find these songs?  I really just need the names, so I can recreate the list. I worked so hard on it!
