Connect to car via Bluetooth turns off Shuffle and enables repeat - only recently

In the last week or so as soon as my phone connects to my Audi A1 via Bluetooth it disables Shuffle and enables Repeat - this is very irratating to say the least and could be dangerous if someone was to change it back when driving!

Same problem on on my iPod touch 5th gen running most current version of Spotify as of Jan 22, 2019 and iOS 12. I connect my iPod to my car with a lightning connection and shuffle disables. I don't want to hear the exact same order of songs every time... Please fix.
