Current track not working when playing in background.

Latest iOS, Latest Version of Spotify, iPhone 6.

If I open Spotify and navigate to my Songs and start playing offline, then I lock my phone or go to another app. If I pause Spotify without returning to the app and then return to Spotify, it shows the current song as the one I first clicked when I originally started playing music. Not the song it last played. This appears to be that while Spotify is in background audio mode, it does not update the "currently playing track" within the app. This has been bugging me for quite some time, even on iOS 7. The built in Music app, Beats and Amazon Music do not have this problem and know what song you last played. Anyone experiencing this?
