Does Spotify use offline playlist when it could stream?

I have a pplaylist that is available offline...my question is, if you are able to stream does Spotify stream or just use the offline playlist?

To me it makes sense that it would use the offline data, to curtail streaming costs.  But I can't seem to find the definitive answer to this question.  Anyone know?

If you've made a playlist available offline, Spotify will sync any songs you have locally to your device. Then, when you play that playlist from your device, any songs that have been synced (the songs you own on your computer) will play from your device (not stream) whether it is available for stream or not.
