How to Only Listen to Songs on Playlist

How to Only Listen to Songs on Playlist

Hello! I have Premium and am in the US on an iPhone XR.

I have a playlist that I want to listen to and Spotify keeps playing songs that aren't on that playlist. I'm really frustrated because I just want to listen to the 10 songs on this list and it is playing all of the other songs that I have downloaded.W hen I click on this playlist, it will play one of the 10 songs I have on the playlist (it only lists those 10 as well) and then go to one that isn't on there.

I've already tried turning off auto-play.

How do I stop this?

Hey @ctflood, welcome to the Community.

Hope you're doing great!

If you want to listen to songs only a playlist, if you have Premium, is to just tap the first song there, disable Autoplay in Settings > Plyaback and making sure shuffle is off and that the queue is empty

Make sure you've installed iOS 13 as well.

Hope it helps 🙂

There’s no shuffle option in preferences/playback. Maybe it’s changed for the latest iOS.  Is there a way to have Spotify play only what is on my playlist in the latest version of the Spotify app?

Hey @Daveinlaca,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.

The option you've to look for in the preferences is Autoplay, which is a feature that automatically plays similar songs after an album or playlist reaches the end, sorry if this caused any confusion. So make sure you've the option toggled off to prevent this behavior.

If Autoplay is off, check if the Smart Shuffle feature is turned on, as it also adds similar tracks to the current playlist. If so, turn it off. You can check more info about this feature here.

Lastly, we'd recommend clearing the Play Queue as it may affect the playback order as well.

Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to ask.

Please make Autoplay a more fine-grained feature, at least for premium accounts. On some of my playlists, I enjoy having autoplay on, and finding new music that's like what I've been listening to. On other playlists, I want ONLY the songs on the list and not recommended songs.
