I cannot sync my i pod nano with my spotify premium, it says that only local files can be synced.

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂 

Unfortunately, Spotify can only sync local files (which you own) to any iPod nano, classic or shuffle since they do not have a supported Spotify application.
