Hi Spotify,
First of all - the integration between Spotify and BMW ConnecteDrive is just fantastic - I use it all the time. The issue however is that the volume when playing from Spotify is quite a bit lower than when listening to other sources. So when switching from Spotify to for example DAB I get quite the chock and have to quickly lower the volume do avoid going deaf.
Can you raise the default volume when connected to connecteddrive a bit?
This is absolutely a problem. The max volume of FM radio stations, even, absolutely blows away the max volume of songs playing through the Spotify integration (connected via USB). I've got an iPhone 6s and a 2014 BMW 320i. Really disappointing to have such great-looking integration but not get the most important part -- sound quality -- right.
I know there's a low report count on this one, but I've tried a ton of different options here (song quality settings within the Spotify app, volume equalizer setting, etc.) and it's just plain quieter than everything else. This has to be a broad issue; perhaps it's not being reported a lot because not a lot of folks use max volume (but even if you don't use max volume, the different volumes between inputs is quite annoying). If not a fix, could the support team at least provide some insight as to whether this issue is on the Spotify side, the Apple side, or the BMW side?
Thanks!
I've got the same configuration as you have but I only expierence this sometimes (usually really quit songs).
However I also do not switch a lot between Spotify and other music sources in my car so maybe I'm not a good person to decide.
What I can imagine is that it could be that it has something to do with "Audio Normalisation" in the settings menu.
On my phone I have it turned on (don't know wheter this is a default setting) but the function at least is to have the same volume output through software.
As far as I know there is no volume option through the USB cable. I also checked it on the phone itself if it is possible to do any settings when it is plugged in.
Thanks for the input!
Yeah, I've actually tried messing with the normalization option and gotten mixed results. As you might expect, it helps the situation with quieter recordings and hurts the situation with louder recordings.
This is really only a problem in the warm months when I went to go down the highway with my windows open and still be able to hear my music loud and clear. I can do that easily with FM radio, which is a disappointing discrepancy.

This
I have the same issue on X5 2013 with iPhone 6s Plus ... very very annoying ...
Considering to stop my spotify premium since its the only place i use it...
Maybe Deezer works better ?
Same issue with 6plus and 5er Touring 2016. i am loading My Playlist in spotify and than switching back to normal usb Connection instead using the Connected Drive App. Sound Quality immediatley Improved and it’s louder. Downside is, you cannot switch the playlist. You need to do this on your mobile.
will get snap in adapter soon and let’s see if it’s getting better
I have the same problem with Spotify, but I never experienced it with Deezer.
I have the exact same issue but with a Samsung S8 in my 2013 M5. Super anoying I am also thinking of switching music apps if they do not fix soon!
Same behavior with the snap in adapter! tried with Apple Music every thing working fine.
Will do a switch, unfortunate because Spotify app is much better
Hey Folks,

It is time that something happens 🙂
Same problem here … years later and many attempts to fix it… works in the VW but not the BMW. And as it is cheaper to change music app than car I am also going to reconsider which is sad as we love Spotify. But I really want to have it working whilst driving too. It is too dangerous if my kid changes to radio by mistake for example whilst I am driving and the volume goes up fifty fold.
