Iphone not showing up in devices and music not syncing

I have spotify premium and a new iPhone 5 and I synced some of my playlists from spotify. Then I plugged my iPhone in and it synced with iTunes. Now when I plug my iPhone in it automatically syncs with iTunes and does not show up in spotify. What do I need to do in order to have my iPhone updated with what I do on spotify while also being able to keep things from iTunes? I guess I do not need it to sync with iTunes if my iTunes is all on my spotify but I don't know how to make my iTunes music go on my spotify automatically.i want to be able to download new music and make music offline on my laptop and have it automatically do so on my phone.

You don't use a cable - spotify uses wifi to synch with the iphone. There'a guide in the really useful help files here. Please give it a try and ask if you still have trouble.
