Is there anyway to sync your ipod with spotify without deleting your currently existing songs?

All the guides I've seen tell you to delete your ipod library and then sync with spotify but I don't want to delete all my songs currently on the ipod. I have an ipod nano 7th generation and a premium spotify account if that helps.

There shouldn't be an issue with spotify getting rid of your songs, but just to be sure ;

If you add your songs to a playilst, even if they were deleted you'd be able to reinstall the playlist and therefore the songs onto your spotify app.
