Local Files "double downloaded" = wasting memory

I have some songs that were on my phone for itunes, and i wanted to have them be on the spotify app so i could go to one place for my music.  So, as I began to sync music on to my Iphone, and  I noticed that i was losing memory space on my phone to sync in songs that I already had on my phone... so basically I was double downloading songs...

Is there any way for me to stop this? A double download shouldn't be necessary...

Music began syncing automatically from my iTunes to Spotify as soon as I downloaded  Spotify.  The problem is that their are 2-4 copies of songs downloaded from the itunes account onto the Spotify account.  I don't want to listem o everything 2-4 times and then move on to the next song! Is there an easy way to remove the extra copies from my iTunes?
