Local files don't sync to iphone

When I try to download the local files on my phone they won't sync - they're visible but greyed out. 

My local files playlist on the desktop app is set to import songs from 'iTunes media' folder and this works fine.

I have made sure the firewall is set correctly and connected the computer and the phone to the same wifi. I have more than 30gb of space left on my phone but it still doesnt work. What am I missing?

• uninstall the app, restart your device(s) and then re-install.
• next, you can sign out of all devices here.
• clear the cache for the app.
• try listening on a different device to see if the same problem occurs.
• try logging in from a different internet connection.
• try logging in with your username instead (if you didn't create your account with facebook)
