New to IOS cant get it to function correctly on BMW F30

Hoping somone can suggest a fix.

Have made a partial move to Apple as spotify integration on Android is pants with BMW vehicles.

However at same time whiel I can get my Iphone 4 to conenct to the car and load spotiy once playing I cant see any track info progress. All I can do is load  a playlist. Cant skip tracks or anything.

Any suggestions how I can fix this. Plan was to use the iphone off line and just sync back when in WIFI range of the house.

Rather not use mobile data. This certainly was not an issue when I first tried it when I buying the car back in November
