Hi there, @Beansworthy

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Spotify Community!

Just to confirm, does this happen only on your iPad or is it happening across devices? Also, does the issue appear when you leave the app in the background and come back or is it happening from the beginning when you try to play any content?

There was a similar ongoing issue recently and this should be resolved in app version 9.1.80. If you haven't already, try updating the app manually by following these steps.

Let us know how it goes!

I have manually updated the app to the most current version. It seems to be iPad specific.iandrois seems fine. I don’t have an iPhone.

the issue seems to be a problem for audiobooks only. If I click a music album or podcast episode the player will appear, and will stay open when I click back on the audiobook. if I close and reopen the app it will be gone again if I start with an audiobook

Thanks for the response, @Beansworthy.

To help us get a better understanding, could you share:

  • If you noticed when this occurred for the first time (perhaps after something specific, such as an app or software update)?
  • The exact Spotify version you're currently running on your iPad.
  • Is this happening with multiple audiobooks or this particular one?

In the meantime, consider going over the following steps in case any of them makes a difference:

  • Clear the cache within the Spotify app (when it's corrupted, it can cause performance issues).
  • Use the Account Page > Sign out everywhere button to log out completely in order to resync your account data.
  • If possible, test with another network connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data shared via hotpot).

Keep us posted.
