Offline content and Bose SoundTouch?

Solved!

Offline content and Bose SoundTouch?

I'm using the Spotify app mainly with my ipad and iphone.  Today i just got myself my first wireless speaker - a Bose SoundTouch 10.  What I'd like to know is that if i control t he speaker thru the spotify app and play a playlist that is offline is the speaker (when used in wifi mode) getting the music from my ipad (streaming the cached music) or is it going to the internet and bypassing the benefits of caching offline?  My home bandwidth is limited and I am hoping that the new wifi speakers are smart enough with spotify connect to use cached content...but i have my doubts.

I think Bluetooth is your best bet, and keeping your iPad on charge when you use Bluetooth so your battery doesn't go down too fast. If you put your devices in Airplane Mode, it's almost a guarantee that no data will be sent in or out using wifi or mobile data, and you can turn Bluetooth on and off appropriately while in Airplane Mode. On my iPhone I use Airplane Mode with certain connectivities (eg. Bluetooth) on most of the time. Conserves battery and makes sure you only have the essentials.

Thanks!

Hi mpopovits, welcome to the Community. Are you connecting to your new speakers through AirPlay? If you're connecting to your speaker from your iPad to your speaker directly with just the Spotify app in Offline Mode using AirPlay - it would get your music directly from your iPad saved for offline listening to your speaker. If your speaker doesn't use AirPlay, let me know and I'll take a look in for you. Take care.

UPDATE: I just looked in to the speaker, it says it uses Bluetooth and WiFi using the Bose app. You would want to connect using Bluetooth and use the Spotify app in Offline Mode. 🙂

thanks for the response 🙂

I'm using wifi, but may use bluetooth if needed to get this to work...particularly if i'm using it for longer music listening sessions of cached content.

I'll see if my husband can do some monitoring from our wifi router to confirm when it uses internet and when it gets data internally.
