Playback stops after certain local files

Playback stops after certain local files

Sometimes when I listen to music I imported into Spotify, Playback stops after one of a few local files finish playing. The next song up does not start and when I drag the playback dot, it snaps back to the end. I have to skip ahead to the next song manually to continue playing music. My Spotify and iPad firmware are both up to date.

This is a very annoying bug. Sometimes encoding the files to mp3 again works but it hasn't for one track. If this happens to be a problem with the files, I don't know how to fix it.

I haven't had this problem until this week. Playback stops after every local file i have in my playlists. Sometimes the problem is gone and then it suddenly appears again. I havetried every solution I have found on this forum. This is really gettting on my nerves cos I always have to manually change track after a local file cos playback just stops. FIX IT!

I use Android version 5.0.1

Spotify verison: 2.2.0.6.36

Same exact problem. Has made using Spotify for running pretty much impossible. I am a Premiere member. I pay for this service. Fix it NOW.

Android version 4.4.4

Spotify version 2.2.0.636

I had to uninstall Spotify.

Go here on phone browser and D/L the version ending in .903.  (4th one from top)

Installed...fixed it.

I still think it's crap I had to do this for a service I pay for...go backwards to make the thing work.

drewfussmania88: Cannot thank you enough for that link.  Got a half marathon to run tomorrow and the thought of having to restart my playlist half a dozen times had my blood boiling. Reverting works just fine for me until they do something about this. Thanks!

drewfussmania88It worked! Thanks a lot. Obviously, this means I can no longer update Spotify because if I do the problem will be there again. And now the question is. Is there anyone at Spotify listening to us? Or are we talking to the walls? How will I know if  a new update solves the problem or not? Your trick works but as you said this is crap, having to dig in search of an old version. Spotify is a great service and I love it. In my PC works smoth but their mobile app is going from bad to worse after each update. Thanks again!

I wouldn't marked these threads as Answered or Solved because they are temporary fixes. Let's make sure the mods can't ignore this.

I remember I had this issue some time before, but apparently it was fixed for a long time (years?) before reappearing again very recently (last couple of weeks, Feb 11th sounds about right judging from the google spreadsheet)

I know for sure it has worked with the same exact files which I had synced to my Android device from the desktop application, but suddenly the files were "unsynced" and when I resynced them this problem showed up again.

Reinstalling via google play did not work, getting version 2.1.0.903 from the spreadsheet did.

Android 5.0.1

Edited: Should have posted to Android community and not here

All,

I have clicked the option "not a solution" on both the so called solutions on this thread.

Although these are good workarounds, and well done to those who found it (although I couldn't make the itunes duration one work for me ayway), these are not proper fixes.  There is a problem in the app which needs fixing.

Also I don't consider having to downgrade to a version of the that is very old as a viable solution either.

Exactly. This bug hasn't been around before for Android afaik. And stepping back versions is clearly not a solution. Perhaps one should stop updating Spotify at a point it works "ok". I mean what's the point of being able to import local files for playback if one won't be able to play them...

Android 4.4.4 here

Maybe I wasn't as clear as I wanted to; I have experienced the same bug before, but if I remember correctly it was a couple of years ago.

I really hope it's not some old piece of code they've dug out from the archives that's causing this, but who knows?

I agree with the rest, also for me the last couple of months have marked a regression in the android software with regards to how I like to use it, so maybe I should just go back a few more steps while I'm at it... (although it is nice to finally be able to add an album to a playlist instead of as a playlist on android as well)

I have this issue and find it annoying enough to consider dropping the service.

Integration with existing local files--particularly those files that are not found on Spotify already, is crucial.

any real solution would be welcome.

Thanks and best,

Jarrett

Hi all,

This thread appears to be confused between IOS and Android.  The original purpose of this thread was to highlight hte bugs in the IOS app that means that playlists with mixed local and spotify tracks will stop playing when the second local track is reached.

This is not an issue that was happening years ago and has come back - the IOS issue has been a problem continuously for about the last 5 versions of Spotify IOS that were released.  In fact if anything it's got worse.

It appears there may be a similar issue on the Android app as well, but this it the IOS support forum so if you are having issues with the Android app you may want to make a similar post in the appropriate forum.

This happens to me too, for a few of my local files. It works fine on the desktop version, but not on iOS.

I have exactly the same problem and i find it annoying to say the least. I'm wondering what the hell is spotify waiting for to fix it.
