My Question or Issue

I have had issues playing Spotify podcasts at speeds greater than 1x for the past few years in my 2018 Jeep Cherokee. When my phone connects to the Bluetooth and I'm listening to any podcast at a speed >1x, the audio goes completely silent but the podcast is still moving forward in the background. I've tried every solution over the past few years and nothing has seemed to work and it's quite frustrating.

I recently purchased a Tesla and am having playback issues in this vehicle as well. When I connect to the Bluetooth the podcast speed function on the iOS app is greyed out and it will only let me play at 1x speed. There is also no option to speed up playback in the native Spotify app on the Tesla OS. Other podcast players like Overcast or TuneIn don't have any issues with speeding up playback but I listen to a few Spotify-exclusive podcasts so was hoping this would be resolved. Can you please provide any assistance? Thanks.

Hey @rkumar426,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We can confirm that what you kindly described is expected behavior, since speeding up is supposed to work when you're connected via Bluetooth, so that's why you can see the option when you're in your Jeep. Since you mentioned no sound plays, is this happening when you connect your mobile device via AUX cable to your Jeep?

For the other apps that use the Spotify API (e. g. the one in the Tesla OS), but are not streaming the sound directly from your phone, like for example Connect, it's not possible to listen to sped up podcasts. This is why you can see the option on your mobile, but grayed out.

We understand where you're coming form and we really appreciate the time you took to write this to us.

We hope this clears things up. Keep us in the loop!

The ability to control podcasts from the Tesla screen (rather than my phone) is the reason I switched to Spotify from Apple Music.  But yet no podcast speed control in the Spotify Tesla app, which is a serious omission.  There must be a way to fix this.
