My Question or Issue
I've just found out that my daughter, who has self-harm issues, is able to access the messaging function with a restricted android phone we let her use for playing spotify only. I cannot use the messaging app on an Iphone with IOS 15 so I didn't even know it existed.
I am the account plan manager but cannot see any information about the messaging nor any way of turning it off for her. She has had dangerous interactions with texting etc in past and we are trying to keep her safe.
Please can somethig be done to enable restrictions of messaging use?
Our only option is to cancel our Premium family account completely.
Thanks you.
Hey @CHANNELZERO, thanks for reaching out to the Community!
Thanks for letting me know about this. You won’t have access directly to change settings in her account, however, she is able to opt out of the Messaging feature following these steps:
There’s more information about the Messaging feature here.
Hope this helps.
hi, i actually turned my messages off a few days ago, is there anyway to turn them back on? ive looked in the social tab and it doesnt show the button to turn them on.
Hey @wonderhuh,
Thanks for your post to the Community. Please try a clean reinstall of the app following these steps. Once you’ve done the reinstall, navigate to the Social features section again following the steps I provided in my first reply.
Let me know how this goes!
Here’s the issue I’m running into:
I have two Spotify accounts.
Account A (Premium) does not have the Messages feature at all. There is no Messages tab, no toggle, and no option to accept message requests.
Account B (Free) does have the Messages feature, including the toggle and message requests.
This creates a problem:
Account B can send message requests to Account A, but Account A has no way to accept them, because the Messages feature simply isn’t available on that account.
I’ve already tried all standard troubleshooting steps (logging out, reinstalling the app, different devices, etc.). Nothing changes. The feature is missing entirely on the Premium account.
Because the Messages feature is clearly enabled on one account but not the other, it looks like a rollout flag issue on Spotify’s side.
Like do I have to wait for the feature to be enabled for my Premium account? I can’t accept any requests until it has a toggle in settings.
I accidentally turned my messages off while in my settings and then the option completely disappeared and now is nowhere to be found. No amount of redownloading the app or opening and closing makes any difference. I did not change any regions or any settings whatsoever, I merely just accidentally clicked the toggle option and it was gone. Why? I want that option back asap.
Hi I also have the same issue, I accidentally turned off yesterday and today I don’t have the option to turn back on, I defeated the app through all the steps, reinstalled and turned my phone on and off before and after, I still don’t have the option in the settings to turn on.
Same thing happened to me, no idea why
Yeah me too
