Problems with peer-to-peer Airplay

I have problems using the new peer-to-peer airplay audio streaming, which was included in iOS8 on Apple TV. It allows to directly connect to the Apple TV via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and stream audio, without the devices having to connect to a wireless router.

In my case, it's very convenient because my Apple TV stands in a "dead zone" of my Wi-Fi signal and it sometimes disconnects using traditional connection method. When trying to stream directly (even songs downloaded to the device), the app stops the music, disconnects the system (not the app!) from Apple TV and continues to play on the phone's speaker.
