SOLVED: Long playlists don't sync - desktop/iphone

SOLVED: Long playlists don't sync - desktop/iphone

Hello,

I only use one long playlist that I keep in offline mode. Since it now is using too much space on my phone, I decided to cut the playlist (currently containing about 1000 songs) in two. Now the strange thing happens. I create a new playlist that I call "2011" and try to move all songs added during 2011 to that playlist. The songs appear on the 2011 playlist on desktop, but not on my phone. I find a rather strange workaround for this, which is simply by moving around 100 songs at a time from the main playlist to the "2011". Doing this, the 2011 playlist updates nicely on the fly also on my phone. Moving the 572 songs in one go works in the desktop playlist but the playlist on my phone keeps being empty.

So, halfway through (I thought), but then over to the next problem. My 1000+ playlist (now reduced to 450 songs) doesn't update itself on my phone. It still shows 1026 songs and the whole point of cutting the playlist in half is gone. The phone doesn't even update the playlist's name if I change it on desktop.

Anyone else experiencing similar sync problems with long playlists? Any solutions or workarounds?

UPDATE: Syncing longer playlists between desktop/iphone now works. I just updated to v1.7.1.7

Pertaining your issue, that seems like it shouldn't happen given what you’ve described (I've tried on my end and it works perfectly fine), I guess your music cache is corrupted, kindly do a clean reinstallation following the steps below:

Click into your Spotify App -> Logout from Spotify (Spotify app Settings -> Logout) -> [If you are on premium and have songs that are on available offline, click here: https://www.spotify.com/sg-en/account/offline-devices/ and remove all devices -> Go to iPhone Settings, General, Usage and Delete the app -> Go to App Store and download the Spotify app again.

Also clear off Safari’s Cache under iPhone/iPad Settings > Safari and Clear all of the caches.

I'm having a similar issue since updating to version 1.7.0.2390.  I had a long offline playlist on my phone that this morning was empty (apprx 450 songs).  The playlist is entact on my PC version.  I copied the long playlist to a new one and the playslist title appears on my phone with no songs.  Weird.

same trouble here. its so annoying! playlist of around 900 songs shows up on desktop but on mobile it shows as 0 tracks

Hi, i have the exact same issue.. Whats happening? It's the same problem on both my ipad mini and my iphone 5s.

@jeremygoh

Thanks for the advice, but no luck. I've re-installed both desktop and iphone5 app. Removed offline devices also. Cleared cache etc...

I did a little experiment.

Starting with a playlist of approx 100 songs, perfectly in synch between desktop and iphone. I copy paste the songs in the playlist, into the same playlist (100+100=200, 200+200=400, 400+400=800 etc ) until it reaches 1000+ songs. Then the sync is gone. Obviously there is something going wrong with the high number of songs in the playlist. The desktop playlist now counts to 1067 songs but the same list in my phone says only 464, and neither name or song count is working anymore. Song count won't either increase or decrease.

Just for the sake of it, I try to remove songs from the playlist to see if it starts working if I go below 464 songs, but no. The whole playlist is now corrupt in my phone and not even a new name change of the playlist goes through to the phone. Shorter playlists are a tthe same time updating instantly, so there is no connection problem...

@turtleintime thanks for the work around. Adding few songs at time to a new playlist worked. It was still a task, but all songs show up on my mobile now.
