Shuffling album or playlist plays incorrect tracks and artists

Hi

Can anyone assist with this issue I have with spotify mobile? 

Whenever I attempt to shuffle play an album or one of my playlists spotifty starts playing music from elsewhere after one or two songs. Initially, it will splice a song or two into rotation (playlist track/random track/playlist track/random track) but after doing this a couple of times it eventually just stops playing anything from the playlist. 

Despite no longer playing my chosen music, spotify seems conviced it's still playing my playlist; attempting to resume that playlist continues the random music. When this random music is playing its song and artist info displays as it normally would.

Any help would be appreciated

Are you using Spotify free?
If so, sounds like you are hearing "suggested tracks" which are part of the free service to force diversity in listening. More details here:

I am indeed using spotify free. Having looked into this before posting, I was under the impression that suggested tracks would be added to your rotation for playlists under 12 tracks. 

I certainly never had this problem until relatively recently - presumably since the recent major update. Has the suggested tracks feature changed it's functionality and am i now unable to avoid hearing suggested tracks? If it is the suggested tracks then they eventually supplant my entire playlist, surely that is not the intended function. I let the playist run for a hour or so this morning for example and heard a total of 4 songs from my playlist in the first 20 minutes or so and then nothing but chaff after that.

How many artists are in the playlist? The 12 track thing is a general rule, but since it is there to force diversity it is more likely to be looking for 12 different artists.

Well, some playlists are single artists - favourite songs and such. Others are maybe 5 or 6 artists - songs I like to listen to together. I have a couple that are maybe more than a dozen artists but as a general rule I don't tend to listen to such a wide range at once - when i'm in the mood for something I am fairly one track so to speak.

I'll try giving the larger playlists a listen and see what happens.

If that is the case then that will be a great shame as I imagine this may limit the utility of spotify free for me.
