Someone please tell me what I am doing wrong!!

I cannot get my iphone 4 to appear on the devices in spotify! I have followed all the guidelines I can find, re-installed on phone, re-started phone and app, tried via usb and also wifi. But my Phone is telling me that 'spotify is offline' which I dont understand as I am online on both laptop and phone!

Any suggestions please??

As far as I know only Wifi works, so no sense to try with USB.

For Wifi :  Are you sure that both devices are on the same wifi network ?

Yep, I'm using my private home network on both, I have tried disconnecting from both and reconnecting but no luck! 😞

Connecting via USB won't work, unfortunately. The connection must be over a local wi-fi network. Usually it will be OK if the computer running the Spotify desktop app is connected to the wi-fi router by cable. Occasionally (with some routers) you'll need the computer to be connected wirelessly too.

Having said that, you don't actually need to the iPhone to appear in your devices list. You can choose which playlists to sync within the iPhone Spotify app. Selecting playlists to sync within the Devices page is just an alternative option.
