Songs in multiple offline playlists duplicated?

Hi everyone,

Quick question:

If I have the same song in multiple playlists and both playlists are available offline, does Spotify download that song twice onto my iPhone's harddrive?  I just don't want to waste space.

I'm almost positive it does not download the same song over again if it is already in an offline playlist. I figure this since I made a new playlist out of songs already offline in other playlists and it saved almost 200 songs isntantly to offline.

You are correct, if it is the same track it only needs to be downloaded once 🙂

what about local files? I'm wondering if spotify has the ability to recognize that a song stored as local file is the same as one of their catalogue and it avoids duplicated data on my phone if the same song is included in different playlist.
