Songs will only download when I play them!

This is so frustrating. I upgraded to premium a couple hours before a long flight to download offline playlists. I waited a while. Just wanted to download about 300 songs... the grey arrow appears but not the green one. Only when I click on a song and it starts playing does it download immediately. Do I need to go through and play every song for it to download?

I’m on an iPhone 7+, up to date Spotify app, I’m on 4g

the songs which do download play fine but when I want to download more playlists I can’t be bothered to go through this

i have tried: turning my iPhone on an off again; uninstalling Spotify (Apple just does that thing where it puts it in the cloud); deleting the cache in the iCloud settings bit after uninstalling (the app still shows up with the cloud logo rather than the get logo and then if I click it and redownload Spotify I’m already logged in with all my info!  I can’t seem to be able to do a hard reset of the app on my device because Apple won’t delete my personal info even when it says it has. 

Please help? I’m now paying for a service from Spotify that I basically can’t use

Hi @Blahblabblahb  I want to help you and maybe I’m wrong but did you check that this option is on on your configurations 

In case it does the other thing that maybe you already now is that you need to be using the app during the process of downloading a Playlist if you go out of it stops the process and in 300 songs you maybe need at least 2 to 5 minutes to start to finish.
