Songs won’t add to a playlist on my iPad, they will add to playlist on my iPhone

I am unable to add songs to any playlist when using my iPad yet if I use Spotify on my iPhone there is no problem.  I have noticed other posts regarding the same issue, I have logged out and back in to Spotify, switched off night shift on the iPad, it still doesn’t add songs to any playlist.  Does anyone know when this issue will be resolved, it doesn’t seem right paying for a premuim membership when the app doesn’t work correctly.
