Spotify Connect Missing for Onkyo 515 Receiver

Hi this morning when I tried to play music on my iPhone 6  via my reciever on spotify I could not connect to my Onkyo Reciever as the Connect icon had disaperared.  Just left with an airplay icon showing my phone, ipad and Apple TV.

Tried my iPad air 2 and this was also the same - no spotify connect only airplay.

 

Both were on iOS 8.3 with Spotify 3.4.0.684

 

Onkyo is on the latest firmware from Decemeber 2014 and has been working without fault - perfect yesterday

On both iPhone and iPad I can get to the Onkyo via the Onkyo 3 App and control the reciever - plays internet music OK

Selecting Spotify on the Onkyo gives initialising.... then a message to use the App

 

Tried the following without any success:

Reboot of phone - several times

Reset networking Settings on the iPhone and reconfigured - no change can still get the Onkyo app to work on the 

 

On the iPad installed iOS 8.4 - no change - no Connect icon - only get airplay

 

Can anyone help please.

I now have a solution to my problem

 

I tried doing a full reinstall of my iPhone 6 via itunes as a new phone - reinstalled the Spotify App - Still the same no connect icon

My iPhone 6 now runs much better though!

 

Solution

 

I preformed a full factory reset and install on the Onkyo TX-NR515

Connect icon back and everything working as it should do

Back to great sound via Connect 🙂

 

 

The site could do with a Sticky with a list of what to try if the Connect icon disapears or doesnt work

 

Install the latest firmware and doing a Full Factory reset should be near the top

My Solution only lasted 1 day and I have lost the Spotify Connect Icon again

 

I have found that there is a known problem with some Onkyo Receivers due to a faulty networking chip

 

See Here : Onkyo UK Customer Service Program

 

If your Onkyo is affected the repair is Free

 

I have registered my reciever - will post again when its repaired

My Onkyo 515 reciever arrived back on Friday - very quick and free sevice from Onkyo - Exceptional

 

However

 

1 - the Onkyo was returned with old firmware installed that was pre Spotify Connect

2 - I installed the latest firmware - Spotify Connect did not work

3 - Did a Factory Reset and configuration - Spotify Connect working

 

Now 3 days later and all is well - Spotify Connect working perfectly and sounds great

 

Lessons learnt is that if Spotify Connect is not working 

1 - eliminate network problems first (if the Onkyo Remote 3 App is working and you can use NET for radio - then its not a network problem)

2 - Factory reset the receiver

3 - problem is in Spotify App or device running it

Did you find an answer ? I think mine disappeared after we upgraded to IOS 8.4

Now in contact with Spotify support

 

No solution as yet

will post when I have one

Spotify asked me create a new account to test if it was an account problem

They made the acount premium for me to try out

 

Unfortunatly it did not resolve the problem

I still cannot see Spotify Connect for my Onkyo 515 reciever 

 

will update when I get a solution
