Since a few days I cannot connect anymore to my Sony BDP-S 6700, which worked excellent in the last years. Does anyone face similiar issues or has an idea.

Hallo!

I have hade same problem, after firmware update on the Sony BPD-S6700.  What I did was setting host name the same as it is on the Sony BPD-S6700 in my router (I had there; Sony BPD-S6700). The host default host name on the Blue ray player is actually only; BPD-S6700.

Then it connects without any problem!

So the Blu Ray is sensitive for that you have same host name every ware, on router and in Spotify app on mobile/computer app. My  router did not detect default name, so I had to write it in manually (and set dedicated IP), and did the mistake to write in ; Sony, also.

You can bay the way also change host name on the Blue Ray player if you want, might be good if you want to bee more anonymous and secure on the network.

Hope this help!
Klas

Hello klasw,

Thanks for your answer. I made contact with Sony support team myself. "Analysis" in progress... I'll post if any improvement made

This sounds exactly like a similar problem I and many others had with Sirius XM on Sony Bluray Players a while ago. People were getting bounced back and for between Sony and Sirius who each blamed the other. In the end it turned out Sony were to blame

Hi Edward-Teach,

Thanks for sharing. In this case, it seems to me that it might come from the other side as last firmware update on Sony bdp s6700 came in 2019... Wait and see what the "experts" say!

I've been doing some more poking around tonight and have found the source of my problem which I'll share. It looks like something changed on perhaps Spotify where the reason my connection wouldn't happen is because I'm running VPN on my phone. When I excluded Spotify from VPN, everything connects as I'd expect.

Hey Guys. Ive been visiting this Thread for Quite some time, since I was having the Same issue for about the Same time as the OP. Only difference is that Im using a Sony UPB-X700.

I seem to have found a solution to the Problem. It was a combination of some of the things written above and something I found in a similar thread in the Marantz-help-forums.

Ive connected the BluRay-Player to my Router with a cable by the way.

I did two things:

First I went through the Internet-connection-setup in my players settings. Step by step. I skipped on the IPv6 settings. The Router let me know that IPv6 would not be available this way, which ist what I wanted. For the rest of the settings I chose the automatic setup.

In my routers settings I set the IP-adress for the Player as static IP. Just to be sure, I checked the info in the Router, to confirm that it was the same IP as shown in my router.

The next thing I did (and I am 95% sure that this was the important step), was to change the Blu Ray Players name from UBP-X700 to UPBX700. It could have been any name, but it was important that there were no special symbols, only letters and maybe numbers (I dropped the "-").

Then I went into my routers settings again, and gave the BluRay player the exact same name as in the players settings.

After I did the name change, everything started working immediately.

I hope that this helps.

And I hope that it will keep on working for me...

It stopped working a day later...Cant replicate it.

Evetything now works, thanks
