I'm using the latest version of Spotify on the latest iOS update for my iphone 4.
When I select a track it plays fine, but chances are the next track that comes on will play with no volume. If it's not the second track it's only a matter of time before a track plays with no sound, it's inevitable. To fix this I have to skip to the next track and go back, which is annoying when playing queues as the song I want disappears.
I also have all of my music set to offline mode so streaming problems shouldn't be the issues
Hi,
I got the same problem. The only thing I noticed, is that when I play a track of my own (not spotify, but a local file), and the next track is a spotify track, it will definitely play the spotify track without volume.
So in my case, I think the app has a problem with switching between local files and spotify tracks.
I'm using a iPhone 4s.
Last couple of days I've been testing different kind of playlists:
Playlist with:
- Only Local files: No problem playing.
- Only Spotify files: No problem playing
- Spotify and Local: Still a problem. I even tried it with different amount of tracks, and still it happend. I tried it with a playlist < 10 tracks and a playlist > 200. Same result: It will stop playing at one point.
Could it be something with memory being full?
Hey @Blackmage2v ,
Sounds a lot like a bug reported in a thread I was in a couple days ago where a Spotify song immediately following a Local File in a playlist saved offline would not play.
I just made a test playlist consisting of Spotify Song--Local File--Spotify Song--Local File and got the same issue as you guys upon playing the 2nd Spotify song. Looks to me like a bug. I'll report it to the Spotify team. Thanks for telling us about it! Spotify needs to get its Local File/Spotify Catalog integration together haha
Hey @Goodman , this is looking like a definite bug. Give it a look when you have the chance.
How has this not been fixed it? I've been having this problem for as long as I can remember. After playing local files that I've synced to Spotify in playlists with a mix of songs (both synced and native), the audio will stop after a synced song. The tracking indicator will still move through the song, but no sound plays unless I hit the back button to start the song over or skip to the next song. This is a huge inconvenience and, frankly, is a lot more serious of a problem since Taylor Swift lifted her music from Spotify and I've had to sync all her stuff from my iTunes library. It makes most of my playlists unlistenable unless I'm literally sitting there manually choosing songs.
PLEASE FIX THIS.
Spotify Version: 2.3.0.1573
iPhone 5S
iOS 8.1.3
Just adding my input to this thread. Same issue here, been going on for at least the past 3 versions of the Spotify iPhone app. Any Spotify track that follows any non-Spotify track will have no sound unless I restart the song. This happens whether it is playing on Shuffle or in order. Happens whether I have a cellular or WiFi connection or not. Happens in Airplane Mode or not. Happens in every Playlist.
Yes, I have restarted my iPhone, both using the "regular" method and the "Hard restart" method. Yes, I have completely removed the app, re-downloaded it, and re-synced all tracks. Yes, I have also tested it with both Spotify-only playlists and non-Spotify-only Playlists (NOT an issue for either of these, only the "mixed" Playlists).
Bad bug.

I concluded a long time ago that there is no way around it, just gotten used to restarting a track every time. Thankfully the headphones I use have a switch so I don't have to get my phone out every time.
Bad bug indeed.
Well, the way around it is for Spotify to fix the problem. But, yeah, that's the only workaround right now. Annoying.
Same issue here for over a year. Always local files. Show that it's playing but no sound. If you restart the song it plays.....very annoying.
Iphone 5S
Same thing here. Iphone 4s, never had this issue until I updated to iOS 8 last week. Now all songs (those downloaded and those streamed) are often starting off playing on mute. Clicking back to restart each track sometimes works, but then many of the songs go mute again.
Very surprised this has been an issue this long for us Premium members, please fix this.
